I think it's an easy way to get kills, so I should use it, despite the fact I'm constantly complaining about how easy this game is?
I use it on my Intervention, I'll admit to that. Why? Because I'm actually at a disadvantage in CQB. Putting it on an AR is just over-kill. Stop being a girl, you girl.

oh no don't call me a girl for using an attachment on a gun oh nooooo

I'll give it to you that the technology for it exists, but the attachment itself doesn't. However, this game is in the future. Think it's 2016, or some shit. So in that time they could create it. It's still incredibly stupid to put in a game.

The Problem

On the forums and even in-game you will always hear about people complaining that the Pyro is too easy to play or that the Targe is just way too overpowered.

The major flaw in these arguments is that even if something is overpowered both teams essentially have the potential to use the supposed overpowered item / class. In the end you DON'T use the class / item simply because you created this mindset that if you don't, all of a sudden you are a better player and this is false.

This is called...

The Honorable Gamer Mentality

This is when you like to play 'fair' and will never use an aspect that is deemed 'unfair' or 'overpowered'. You do it for the sake of honor and good sportsmanship. There are a few scenarios in which this is the correct way to play as in not exploiting a glitch or not hacking. However, by following this mentality you are just putting yourself at a disadvantage.

A person who has this mentality will often say that they are better then people who use these certain classes or items because those certain things 'need no skill' EVEN IF the 'honorable' person get steamrolled anyways.

This mentality is respected by the community and is often deemed the correct way to play... which is WRONG.

People who are familiar with fighting games and especially street fighter or tekken will know a different mentality. Something I call...

The Street Fighter Mentality

A person who often plays competitive fighting games will know that if it exists in the game and isn't considered a gamebreaking glitch or bug, then you should use it to your every advantage. There is no 'cheap' in a game, There is only 'effective'. Do you think the equalizer is overpowered? Use it. Do you think the targe is overpowered? Use it.

Consider this, If the targe is so overpowered, would a team full of demomen completely destroy a team who had a set-up of a heavy, medic, scout, pyro, and sniper?

No, you have to adapt and that is what the community thinks is overpowered, the need to change your strategy.

just ignore the parts about tf2 also i just thought some people would like to read this, not necessarily my opinion.

Yeah, I rage every time my opponent runs around corner and stabs me instinctively. If it's a UAV, sure, that's my fault for not taking notice that they have it up, but when I see a ****ing heartbeat sensor through the killcam, ****.

I have a pretty shitty set up

Tar-21 with silencer
I don't even use my secondary weapon, except just today where I had to whip it out during a 2v1. I think its the PP#### smg

Scavenger
Light Weight
Commando

I use a throwing knife most of the time, but I also enjoy the semtex. Sticking it onto faggots can be great fun.

My max streak was 9. I'm terrible at this game.

I mostly play domination. I play defensively and try to defend one point. I use the AK (no attatchments until I get extended mags), with stinger, semtex, scavenger pro, stopping power and commando pro. I also use the UMP sometimes with extended mags.

Don't get many kills defending, but as I die lots when I play offensive doing it like this gives me a better chance of getting a killstreak.

Goddamn, the maps in this ****ing suck dick. For the first time, I don't think I like a single map in a game.

But the FAL is super cool, dawg.

I'd agree with that completely if I found it hard to adapt to the situations I complain about. If I see a HBS, I switch over to a class with Ninja. Just because I can avoid it, does that make it fair? This attachment can be unlocked by level 10. You get Ninja in the mid-20's.
I do fit in to the first category, but comparing completely different games is never a good thing to do. Trust me, this game is a lot more fun when you don't see people camping and using a HBS. Think of it this way: Would you rather see a game where everybody uses the best possible weapons (FAMAS/M16 w/ HBS) while camping, or while everybody has a different gun and set-up and stay on the move and use tactics and map knowledge?
As you said, though. You've just got it. Give the game until you reach around level 50-ish and you'll start picking up on everything.

Exactly.

I'd suggest this set-up if you don't use your secondary:

UMP .45 w/ Silencer
Stinger

-Scavenger
-Cold-Blooded
-Steady Aim

Throwing knife
Stun x2.

You'll be extremely useful as you'll be able to take down all air-support, so you'll rack up quite a few points doing that. The UMP sits as the strongest SMG in the game, imo. It's a little hard to get used to, but it's incredible.

Also, try the ACR with an ACOG scope. The ACOG scope is extremely useful on Assault Rifles in this game. Since they're so accurate, it makes them extremely deadly. Try sticking to pistols for your secondary as much as possible, since if you ever run out of ammo you'll probably find yourself picking up a different gun, and the handguns switch over so much faster.
I'd say go for the Magnum. It kills in 2 hits, so even if you're a bad shot there's a big chance you'll hit them atleast twice.

pfft. ACOG scope should never be used on assault rifles. should only be used on snipers.

ugh, i'm really not too fond of the ACOG scope, so i just use it to complete my challenges, then i ditch it

i don't really have a primary class setup, but as far as a rushing class it's:

(any automatic gun)
spas-12

stun
semtex

marathon pro
lightweight pro
commando pro

the game's pretty fun with friends
also, Lake, we should have another knife fest on old school mode, that was pretty fun on shipment
