It's funny how a bunch of crazy kids decide to beat a girl on camera leads onto a sudden agreement on how the internet is supposedly so bad.

And it always happens. They can't accept the fact that there were a bunch of dumbasses who decided to beat a girl senselessly.

Because of technology? Hardly.

I don't think it's discussing whether the internet is bad, C!D, I think it's making an argument as to how teens are using the internet. Although, it's pretty stupid that the mother of one of the girls convicted blamed the internet at the end of that video.

Yeah, but the whole "you need to control kids" thing is getting to me a bit. I think it's actually unfamiliarity with the internet which is causing kids to do this. They just started using the internet and suddenly it seems like this new world to have fun in, this place where recognition is rewarding.

I thought when it said "you need to control your kids", it was addressing the parent's neglectful behavior to a child's internet use telling them they should be constantly monitoring their kids.

The internet isn't bad, it's abused. People who abuse it are bad.

I wouldn't blame it on the parents. The girl's behavior is being dictated by an internet comment. That's how insecure they are.

I thought that last part was TOTAL BULLSHIT! Most teens do abuse the internet. I mean, people do and post tons of illegal shit on the internet because they think "oh i can't get caught" or "oh it wont happen to me" or "oh its just the internet" But at the same time everyone else thinks its a bad thing because they only hear about the BAD side of it. If they knew about all the successes and other shit they wouldn't think it was bad.

In reality you love society, and we all know it.

The internet is like a hammer. You can build something with it, or you can hit someone over the head with it. In a sense, the internet can be used for personal gain, whether at another's expense or not.

In the end, all these people speaking negatively about the media, music, technology, are just not knowledgeable in these things and in turn are afraid of it. It's what happens when generations change and society does as well.

"Illegal shit" - do you know where 95% of the users got flash from, that are on this website at the moment? Not to mention that Adobe/Macromedia doesn't even care about that one kid that got it for free, they want the entire corporations to get it legally.

This is total bull, a girl gets beaten. It was video taped and put on youtube. THEY WERE CAUGHT. How often does shit like this happen? there was that 13 year old girl who committed suicide awhile ago. There's this. and I think there was a string of things where people were throwing snakes into fast food place's drive thrus. You can't blame the internet, think of how much more good than bad comes from the internet. Companies can use it to keep in touch with employees on business trips. Our soldiers can use it to talk with thier family when thier overseas. People have met on internet dating sites AND GOTTEN MARRIED because of the internet, myspace has made millions of people make new friends [and not just the "who is this guy? Oh well I'll add him anyway" friends] and when a 16 year old girl gets beaten, with the video posted on youtube, the go out and claim its pure evil. Don't blame the internet, blame the people and the kids parents who use the internet. Lets you're a parent and you think your kid wouldn't be able to handle flame or that they are very impressionable. Don't let them on the internet. Password protect the computer and only allow them to use the internet with a adult there. Its not fair to blame just the internet for what happened.
