Recently, my friends have coined on to some conspiracy theories as if it's a new idea and they are the only ones that know about it. I was linked to this vid:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJi2HaJf1VI&feature=fvst
(watch second one too in the response box)

And also to some of David Icke's work:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_WJDPjIpl8
(watch all of these in the related vid section).

Now, I'll make this clear from the start: I have always thought that the Government isn't the true power in the world, and I think that's obvious. With the right amount of money and influence, large corporations can act as a sort of puppet master. However, I don't believe in all this new world order bullshit and "secret society" crap. And I don't believe this "elite" higher power nonsense, if it were true, would be anything bad (bar the fact that they haven't told us about it).

George carlin held the sort of beliefs that I believe in:

Now, in all of the videos I've seen about these conspiracies, not one has shown evidence. They way in which they explain is very convincing, and yet we see no evidence. Take David Icke, he says he did 20 years research, and the most he tells us of are a couple of stories which may or may not be true and refers to no individual names.

Convince me this is true, or tell me how to explain to my friends that they are ignorent.

If this secret society existed, how did they ever allow the internet to come into existence. They didn't think that it would somehow oppose or threaten their operation? I think David Icke is just very imaginative, nothing more.

Don't really know much about secret societies. My grandpa was a mason and whenever my dad or myself would ask him what they did or anything about it, my grandpa would just say he couldn't tell us. Secret societies are neat.

What I believe, is that the conspiracy is just a hoax. There's huge amounts of money to be made by people's fears. One or many large companies, or maybe even the government themselves, made the conspiracy theories.
At High Country Gun Smithing in Longmont, customers flooded the store for three days beginning with the day terrorists slammed planes into the World Trade Center and Pentagon, store owner Ralph Stovener said.

"We did a typical month worth of sales in those three days," Stovener said.

There's nothing more to it, really. With my dad being a conspiracy theorist, every single thing that he said was going to happen, such as the swine flu vaccine killing people a few weeks after they take it, never happened. It's all bull.

People love feeling like they're this small part of the population that has found the ultimate truth, like they've seen through this evil scheme to take over the world. They are really quick to start believing these sorts of things for this reason. It's natural to want to fill your life with the stuff of grand fiction, and we're all human. I do it myself sometimes, albeit on a smaller scale.

Lol, this. I also heard about some organization that has imprinted a secret code on a dollar bank note. If it was so secret, why would they print it on money? There's a tiny owl in a dollar bank note.

Conspiracy theories are funny, but that's all there is to it. Ever heard of Chemtrails?

I find David Icke funny. He believes a race of lizard-men interact with demons, cause mass sacrifice like 9/11, are trying to cull our population using viruses and chemtrails, as well as trying to dumb us down with our education, media, and food ingredients. The way in which he states this is very compelling though.
