I don't know when this shit started, but now I hear every single person on steam talking about how shitty halo is and that's why they don't have a gaming console. This argument would be valid if it were not severely to profoundly retarded.
Halo 3 is an amazing game. The story mode is constantly filled with epic shit happening all the time, as well as a gripping storyline that is better than most movies. The online is perfectly balanced, with a range of modes that kicks every other game's ass (including tf2). On top of that, the constant creation of new and awesome game modes keeps the online games from becoming stale.
While that's good by itself, Halo also lets you have 3 other friends WHO ARE ACTUALLY IN THE SAME ROOM AS YOU play together online, something which i have absolutely no ****ing idea why all the new games are not doing. This makes it actually fun to play together when you have friends over, instead of switching off like in Call of Duty, Bad Company, Gears of War, etc. Then there's all the crazy shit people have come up with in Forge mode, which is one of the better editors out there (especially for courses like sandbox and foundry where you can pretty much make an entirely new level).
I legitimately tie Halo 3 with TF2, and when you're with people Halo is the shit to play, so in the end I'd actually give it to Halo. People just love to complain about how loud the 9 year olds on xbox live are, completely forgetting that there's a goddamn mute button for that exact reason.
In short, get your heads out of your asses and start appreciating Halo 3 again.

halo 3 and tf2 are completely different games, have different gameplay and in no way should be compared in otherwise completely opinionated arguments.
halo is given flack for fanboys, not just 9 year olds on xbl. fanboys ruin everything. it is also the most mainstream video game, ****ing ever, the most popular something is the more hated it is.
halo was made for console games, of course you can play with 3 others on it, theres nothing shocking about that.
in short, you're a faggot and no one cares

Halo is a good series in terms of console FPSs. It's a somewhat above average game in terms of PC FPSs.
And most importantly it has this strange solid feeling to it, something I can't quite place that few other FPSs have. I also really enjoy the story and universe, no matter how derivative it is.

You know what? I totally agree with you. To many people bring halo down because of the people that play it and the fact that halo noobs are the noobiest noobs ever to hit the earth. But that's just a tiny thing, to many people look at the tiny things and complain instead of looking at the bigger picture. If your about to complain about something just stop and imagine this...
"you have a siamese twin, he is gay and you are not...
he has a date coming over tonight...
you both share the same ass."

i bet you think you're all original and funny for saying that.

i used to love halo, but i just dislike it immensly because of the stupid people that play it, all like 'DURR GIB ME SNIPER' or 'DURRR U R NOOB' or 'DURR U KIL MRE THN ME NUUB'. i love playing it with friends although i piss them off often because im actually quite good at it and no one wants to play with me anymore unless their on my team

Halo is not a bad game.It actually pretty amazing. It's just the Youtube videos and 9 year old kids that makes Halo crappy.

Halo is good until you go online. It has a terrible community. Also, this thread is extremely pointless.

Ok, ignoring 2-Ds valid point(s) which sum this up, I'm going to pick apart your argument, considering I only have about 20 hours of gameplay on Halo 3 (mainly pricking about online with the headset off), and a few hundred from combat evolved, again, pricking about online and playing half the story:
"The story mode is constantly filled with epic shit happening all the time"
So is the few hours after gorging on prunes or by getting Cholera from the public toilets.
"a gripping storyline that is better than most movies"
Since I never played Halo 2, of finished the first, I had no idea what was going on in the short time I tried the Halo 3 story mode (an hour or two at most), it might have managed to draw me in, once I was far enough in it was only referencing stuff from this game, but, I didn't want to play that far in to find out i wouldn't.
"The online is perfectly balanced"
So are most games, but even if it is, the people losing will stay whine that it isn't.
"with a range of modes that kicks every other game's ass"
More of an opinion but all the same. ALOT of games have different online modes and I'm sure if you switch the graphics and sounds, it's pretty much like playing the same game mode on another game.
"the constant creation of new and awesome game modes keeps the online games from becoming stale"
Again, most other game have moding tools or communites, nothing special or unheard of really.
"Halo also lets you have 3 other friends WHO ARE ACTUALLY IN THE SAME ROOM AS YOU play together online"
This is a good point, although I don't think I own many games where splitscreen isn't an option, even on my PC/mac. While most are limited to a 2 player splitscreen, even a 40" screen leaves things a tad small with it cut into 4 and everyone sitting atleast a meter away.
"omething which i have absolutely no ****ing idea why all the new games are not doing"
Quite a few are, even if it's only a 2 player splitscreen. See above for the rest of this.
"This makes it actually fun to play together when you have friends over"
I can't say I can argue much with this, other than the fact none of my friends want to play halo, which I can agree with, we often just try guitar hero drunk edition, or once we get that dancing hero thing, playing the wii drunk. But, I'm sure there are other games you can play muliplayer on one console that you own.
"instead of switching off like in Call of Duty, Bad Company, Gears of War, etc"
Turn about failing the spec. ops. in the new CoD can be quite fun to watch on the short ones. Haven't played Bad Company but bar the splitscreen on Gears I can see why it would be something to play alone.
"Then there's all the crazy shit people have come up with in Forge mode, which is one of the better editors out there (especially for courses like sandbox and foundry where you can pretty much make an entirely new level)."
I'd ask why it's one of the best but it's fair to assume it's because it's more or less idiot proof. But same again, other games have moding tools and such so not much new.
"I legitimately tie Halo 3 with TF2, and when you're with people Halo is the shit to play, so in the end I'd actually give it to Halo."
'Legitimately' might be the wrong word, 'stupidly' might be closer. Lets work this out shall we, you're comparing a PC (originaly) game based around (entirly on) online gameplay to a console game which should stand up with an online option. In otherwords, you're comparing a game that you play 'alone' online with a game which should have substantial gameplay/story and splitscreen without online on terms of splitscreen ability. You can't really do that and be taken seriously.
"People just love to complain about how loud the 9 year olds on xbox live are, completely forgetting that there's a goddamn mute button for that exact reason."
Ironicaly, 9 year olds shouldn't have the game so it shouldn't be a problem, yet it's the most annoying one by far. Like a said, I play with the headset unplugged unless i'm playing with friends or one of my brothers friends wants to know which of us is on the xbox. So no real opinion other than thanks for reminding me that the average age of the people who own this game is 12 and the average mental age is around half that.
"In short, get your heads out of your asses and start appreciating Halo 3 again."
We'll get round to that when you stop tonguing the games balls.
Also, before you start, I don't hate/dislike you or want you to die. I just felt like doing this to kill some time and because I can.

in my opinion, halo doesn't have a bad story line, but i ****ing hate the completely unrealistic gameplay. i don't care about realism too much but it ****ing pisses me off when you can jump 30 feet into the air and it takes 10 point blank shot gun hits to kill someone. also, online is boring to me and i don't even own the game.

Unrealistic? What's unrealistic about it? THESE ARE ALIENS AND PEOPLE IN ARMORED SUITS. That's like complaining that it's unrealistic to shoot a guy wearing a bullet-proof vest in the chest and him not dying. That is a really stupid complaint.
Dec 22, 2009 6:58 AM #527004
i realize that, ash. but since when does wearing armor allow you to jump 30 feet high and survive a 100 foot fall. its just not my type of game.
Dec 22, 2009 7:13 AM #527011
who cares if its unrealistic? its a video game.
Dec 22, 2009 7:17 AM #527013
nonononon. im not big on realism, read my original post again.

Ok let me rephrase my comparison:
Halo's online is better than TF2's (remember the mute button guys, and the fact that there are a very small amount of annoying 9 year olds online if you're actually playing online). I say this not because I'm sucking Bungie's balls, but because of the original online modes (rocket race, shotty snipers, griffball, and all the other awesome shit in Action Sack) constantly being refreshed, perfect balance (mind you most online games have some sort of overpowered feature to it), solid control, etc etc that i already mentioned above.
This is my opinion, and to other people TF2 may be better than Halo's online, but the amount of shit people give halo just because it's popular and has annoying kids on it (MUTE ****ING BUTTON) doesn't blot out the fact that the online is amazing. And in terms of 4 player splitscreen, that used to be in every fps game, and everyone loved it, so I don't understand how now all of a sudden people have had a dramatic decrease in vision to what people had, say, 5 years ago when people easily dealt with the tiny screens. You have to remember the old 007 games that had ridiculously fun 4 player splitscreen back on the n64, and those had shitty graphics on top of the shitty tvs in the 90s.
@Flood: the guy you're playing as is a superhuman wearing a huge bullet proof suit, so he can jump high and take more bullets than in CoD and other realistic games.
