Hmm

Copy the frames of the stick (and whatever else you want in the mirror)

Paste them into a symbol movieclip

Align the movie clip on the stage (go transform > flip verticle if you want a mirror)

Go to properties and change its alpha to make it look like a mirror.

More tweeking and repositioning can make it look like either a mirror on a glossy floor or a shadow.

Flash has an "edit multiple frames" button but I don't know if it would work well here.

No, put the movieclip on another layer below everything. And when i said copy frames, I meant copy all the frames, so the movie clip contains everything you want to have in the mirror.

Only has to be done once.

What? That other entry I did was done in 5 minutes.
Pivot is easy and I can tell he isn't that good at it so he shouldn't have a problem finishing on time.
