Holy shit, I just started playing poker a few days ago. I didn't know it was that much fun o.o. I practiced on a computer game a few times, but today I signed up to pokerstars and started playing online. So far, at texas hold 'em 6 person tables. I've gone 2/1. Anyone else play? or have tips for a starting nublet?

I would have said "pupil dilation" if you were playing for real, but online it still fine I guess. Are you playing with real money?

Oh I used to love poker. Back in the good ol' days my friends and I used to play a lot of poker together for fun, without the gambling. I was pretty good, but as time passed I stopped playing it.

Play me on PKR or games.aol.com

I've never tried to join pokerstars, thought they may ask for my adress and phone number etc. I'll go check.

I love playing cards, I've played a lot, haven't lost yet, made around 100$. The only tip I can think of is to remember what cards have already been used, don't know if this will work online.

Nooo, I wouldn't play online against people of all different skill levels using real money. Maybe later on I might play for real money, but right now I'm playing for the fun factor. So play money all the way.

I do believe that they only ask for your city, and your name. Which you can put in a fake : P.

Oh that's ok then. I honestly don't care as long as they don't ask me for:
a) exact adress (town is OK)
b) Phone number
c) credit card info

I'll download it now. I wana get some practice first before playing anyone I know :P

Poker is the best game known to man. My friends and I play regularly, generally it's a £20 buy in, ten man game, winner takes 50%, second place 30%, third place 20%. Best advice I can give you is not to overvalue your hands pre-flop. If you haven't got two high cards or a pair of sixes or higher, fold it without even paying the blinds.

Poker is a game about psychology. You need to read your competitors' reactions and tells in order to determine whether or not your hand can beat theirs.

When playing poker online, you don't see your opponents at all. You have no clue what they are thinking, and have no way of determining what kind of hand they have. It becomes a game of luck, and poker is not supposed to be a game of luck.

In short, you can't ****ing play poker seriously online.

You can calculate odds, which is as big a part of poker as the psychology. You can also remember what kinds of hands your opponents have placed bets on before, and use that.
But I agree, though. Poker online is quite meaningless. For me the fun in in poker lies in being with friends, playing seriously but at the same time joking around, and getting more drunk as the game progresses.
