This movie is anything but boring.

And I wouldn't call this story unoriginal, because this is a story that's common to humanity, one that's lodged in our collective unconscious, so to speak. It's the kind of story that happens again and again in human history, so it's not surprising that other films would have the same basic plot-line, like Dances with Wolves.

While I'm not exactly doubting that Cameron said that, that site is no mroe convincing than you saying it.

Am I the only one who thought this movie was just alright? It was a visual masterpiece, nothing else. The entire thing was mindnumbingly cliche and COMPLETELY unoriginal, not just the Dances with Wolves aspect, but the philosophies, characters, etc. I honestly want to like this movie, but everytime I think about it, I'm just annoyed. And personally, I don't believe movies should be made with a giant green screen room, some actors in blue suits, a couple cameras, and a bunch of computers. It just seems so impersonal.

i didn't think it was ****ing epic and shit. still it was really good, in my opinion. but i agree the story was unoriginal, the whole "look natives on top of something that will make us rich lets kill them but oh no the main character turned against us to do the right thing" idea has been done a million times. also it was extremely predictable.

^ Who cares, the effects were amazing - and the story was fine; you can gripe about its originality, but remember that cliche is not bad. I thought it was really good, the concept of infiltrating a civilization through a puppet was cool, and it had a really good cast to boot.

I watched it like a week ago. Absolutely fantastic and great. I saw it in Imax 3D, and I suggest you do the same for a great time.

but what's better, seeing in theaters for around $10, or going to Imax and seeing it for like $20?

imax is like 15 bucks, iirc
and if youre going to see avatar, see it in imax, you'll regret not doing so, since it was made for a visual experience.

well, not where I live, but i get your point. yesterday a group a friends went out and saw it at the movies while i was at some fair, but then my mom suggested going to Imax instead of dragging them back into the theater.
