I'm probably getting an xbox 360 soon and my modem is way the **** away from my room and theres no getting to it with an ethernet cable. Could I just buy another modem without getting a router or anything? Just buy the modem, connect it to the phone jack in my room and the xbox, then it will work just like that?

I'm not sure how it works but i had a phone jack in the my room that i wasn't using so somehow my brother turned it into an Ethernet jack and that is what I'm using now to connect to the internet. I don't know how it worked, but I'm quite positive that is a plausible option

Theres two ways I've done it, both are rather easy.
You can buy a ethernet cable, and hook the 360 into the modem, or into a computer that has internet connection.

The second I've done is
