So I was just surfing through Newgrounds and Stickpage and such, when I came upon looking back at my pal Fitzy.

I was going through my favourites and saw Xiao Xiao Style 2 and I had the same reaction I did 5 years ago, the flash is freaking epic.

Anyways, this opens up discussion, has the expections of a stick fight changed? Like looking at stuff by animators now is truely amazing, but where does that leave Fitzy?

I say 5 years ago this flash still is one of my favourites, so I was wondering, what do you think?

Infact most users I knew from when I joined have left too.

It's odd, actually; quality has fluctuated. When stickpage first started the movies were pretty good, around Xiao 4 quality, and then they slowly became better and hit a peak in 2007ish (im sort of pulling this out of my ass), but ever since a year or two ago Jay must be getting a bit desperate and lower quality stuff is making it to the front page.

So stick animation is past its prime, the time when people like tentionmaru and nhazul were active. That animation is probably better than lots of front page junk at the moment.

Yeah it really is past its prime, all the "good" animators came about around the same time and it seems like most of them have gone on with their lives.

The whole reason I started animating 5 years ago was to make an awesome stick fight, but I was never happy with what I did and would constantly restart. To this day I have yet to be able to make a good stick fight, and I'm trying to talk the Fitzter into mentoring me so I can make this 1 animation, then quit.

Yeah, I miss the days when Stuff and I made those comics, and when I tried to talk Jcamelo into making black vs white a collab, lulz. I guess I'm here because I want to have my last hurrah, I joined when I was like 11 or something, I'm 15 turning on 16 soon, so amongst the older members I'm still pretty damn young. I left right after the onslaught of new people came in like late '07 I think or may'be even 2008, regardless it was a while ago.

Whenever people come back they lament about how "dead" it is, but home is where the family is and many of the older members have moved on.

Well you are right, but back in '07 or so, just before the flood of new guys and arguably before Fluidanims or whatever it's called SPP had a lot of great animators. As compared to now where not many people animate I assume because all the usernames are "Narutofanhottie111".

And Ashlander, that's a nice sig you've got there, if you made that, wanna teach me how to have cool brush effects? And if you say google I will slit your throat.

Yeah, fitzy was here WAY back... I remember seeing him as long as I can remember, back when SSLA was still alive. I wonder where he went; he was posting up until around last year. He just faded away without me noticing I guess.

And on the contrary, I believe stick animation standards have gone up (in these local stick communities anyway). I now notice a lot of flaws in the old anims I once admired. Although they're still like "classics" to me, I just notice a lot of faults that I once did not see. Nowadays, people strive to perfect their movements and making them as good as possible. I have noticed a big loss in creativity and style though. Plus these forums have virtually no flash animators anymore... only the few regulars

Now all Fitzy does is play online poker.... I'm trying to talk him into mentoring me in flash so I can make better stick animations. Here are my latest attempts http://www.stickpageportal.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113071

As you can see I suck, however if you look at my NG account (where all I do is spam) you can see I'm a decent full body animator.

I agree that the standard for stick fights have gone up, and I think creativity with effects and camera angles have gone up too, all I want to do is make an animation like xiao xiao 3, however I'm not at a level where I can even make a decent stick fight.

Any tips from you Miccool would be cool. GET IT? FUNNY PUN RIGHT???

Oh in the posts that follow say how cool Fitzy is because he lurks this thread and wants to be told he is godly.
