He's not talking about the Jews. He's talking about the Nazi officers who claimed afterwards that they were only following orders and had no choice but to murder people.

Well... That is not what I took from what he said. When I think Holocaust I don't think of those poor Nazi men who were just following orders. They had the free will to do what they wanted, there are many movies and books on how real nazis saved many lives by rebelling against the tyrant we know as Hitler. Also I recall watching a documentary about somethng along the lines of 47 ways to kill Hitler, all of them failed but the men atleast attempted it, thus giving them free will.

You all forget the factors of life. We're all affected by things.

Those nazi officers for example, were affected by propoganda. And other officers being made an example. Or simply by tales.

We have free will, but to an extent. And only in parameters determined by the information we know.

We make the best decision possible with the best information that we have. We dont have all the information possible, and outside extremes change the information available to us.

And yet I still can't fly. :(

Thats because one of the factors is gravity. You can try, but you'll fail. And look retarded.

No, you just didn't read the second page, I am aware of socialization, and it was discussed.

I think we have the free will to do what we want, obviously I'm not saying you can fly, that is scientifically PROVEN THAT YOU CANNOT FLY. To suggest that we choose not to is simply absurd.

We have the ability to speak the way we want to, we choose how we will act.

No. We make the best decisions available to us with the best information available to us. After learning we cant fly, we store that information. Just because somethings scientifically proven impossible doesnt mean people wont try it. People in rural africa with no technology know they cant fly and not because of ****ing scientific research

You're free to to what you want and what you'r mind says. But if you have a gun aimed to your head, You will do things you normally wouldn't do and the aimer will tell how you will act.

That has no relevance to anything whatsoever.

I'm sure rural africa has more technology than what the media portrays.

Humans cannot fly, birds can because they have wings. That sounds like science. I never said people won't try to fly, hell look at planes, people can fly but not without technology.

You clearly don't read.

No. Rural Africa really doesn't. We know that we cant fly because when we jump, we dont take off no matter what we do. We store this information in our brains and keep it for later.

Hence making my thesis correct.

No. We can't fly because of gravity. Not because our brains aren't letting us....

I knew debating on stickpage was a waste of time, I'm done.

I'm not saying that. I'm saying we know we cant fly because after we attempt gravity pulls us down. We add this to our store of knowledge so we aren't just constantly trying to jump into the air. We use this database of knowledge to influence our every decision and we make the best use of this database to make the best decisions available to us, however there is always things missing from this database and everything influences this database and corrupts or adds knowledge.

Whether or not we have free will can only ever affect what we attempt to do. Since there is never any way to be 100% certain about the outcome of anything it would be wrong to say that free will, whether it exists or not, is the sole factor determining whether or not we actually do something. Like Socks says, whether you attempt or not you will not fly. Like Blasphemer says, since you know that Socks is right you will not attempt to fly. The fact that we will not attempt to fly is determined by our knowledge of the world and by our unwillingness to try things that we know will probably fail. Some people are genetically prone to try things that will probably fail, or will try because they've seen a lot of people try improbable things and succeed. These people might try to fly. But, that will be nothing to do with free will - it's just the sum total of their genetics and experience.

No... your "database" paragraph is simply just you rambling on about COMMON SENSE.

I believe that if somebody is afriad to do something it is most likely a lack of confidence/self-esteem more so than anything else. In the sense say approaching a girl or doing something that might gain attention. Note that, those example ARE POSSIBLE. I'm nearly certain that attempting to fly will result in a loss of energy from jumping and if attempted from heights could result in death.

Note I'm simply restating what Zed said (who had it right on the button). Blasphemer you should really learn to read.
