On the one hand, we should consider there are rather high numbers of male-female couples that are formed in high-school, for example. Of those couples, a rather high percentage of
10.4% last and actually result in healthy long lasting marriages, according to http://answers.kgb.com/what-is-the-percentage-of-high-school-relationships-that-result-in-a-healthy-long-lasting-marriage/1763143 . The above mentioned research confirms the existence of a tendency of couples forming in school, so, we could suppose the absence of schoolmates of the opposite sex could lead a student to a homosexual relationship.

On the other hand
School is not a person’s social boundary. Studying in a single sex school will not isolate the student from the real word. Students spend a maximum of 7 to 8 hours per day in school. The spare time students have will allow them to meet people of the opposite sex and live regular lives surrounded by both men and women, as well as have a straight relationship.

Family has a stronger and earlier influence on a child than school does. We need to mention whatever the influence single sex schooling might have on a person’s sexual orientation; it can be cancelled by the influence of that person’s family, provided that person has a regular male-female couple for parents. Though having a couple of homosexuals for parents can lead a person to a homosexual lifestyle, there have been no confirmed cases of single sex schooling causing it.

Additionally
Research has been made which confirms homosexuality has numerous biological causes such as genetics, hormonal imbalance and prenatal hormone defects, whereas two of the most common psychological causes are sexual abuse or lack of bonding with a same-sex parent.

Moreover
The reason for single sex schooling is to actually make a student’s life easier and separate his social life and non-platonic relationships outside school from his life at school, so that the student can focus on his studies easier.
Therefore, single sex schooling supports an idea of school being education for career and being more likely (and preferably) to prepare a student for work than social life.

To Sum Up
Even though there is a tendency for couples to form in schools:
School does not limit a student’s social life.
A family with regular parents will strongly influence the student towards straightness.
None of the causes for homosexuality resulted from research are social, but rather biological and psychological (result of a trauma).
Single sex schooling allows students to focus on their studies easier.

Therefore, single sex schooling only removes certain social stress factors from a student’s life in school, not at all promote homosexuality.

We should not blame Single Sex Schooling for homosexuality. It is nothing but a mere education method designed for efficiency in an agreeable social group. While this method obviously ruins the idea of high-school couple, since students have their life outside school, it will not lead them to such desperation to turn homosexual. Homosexuality has much more plausible causes in biology and psychiatry.

Hawk, if you use the word "homosexual" instead of "gay", can you also use "heterosexual" instead of "straight" (at one point you said "straightness"...)

I'm afraid this debate goes to Brownoser for that critical mistake

Just kidding, you did pretty well even though you win by default.
