If you dont want to read the boring stuff then you can just watch this 5 year old trailer and leave, but dont reply without reading, thanks.

Ive been asked this question "What brought you to animation" many times and I cant really answer that, I cant even answer "When did you start animating", what I know is that I was really young (11 I think) no one in my village or the town that I was going to school in wasnt interested in animation, no one really told me anything about it, but I knew stuff like The simpsons, South park etc, the "classic" like Disney didnt really inspire me, but the life changer for me were Castle and Madness series (when I got Internet about 4 years ago), but, as I today realized there is a file on my CURRENT notebook that says it was made in May 2003 and its not the first one, I know that, I really want to dig for this and find my very first saved animation.I guess it has to be from 2001, or something close to this year, I got this idea when I found that trailer Ive linked you to above this epic talking about nothing, as usual, its 5 years old and I think I saw it 4 years ago or so, just when I saw castle etc.It was something that epic that Ive opened Flash and didnt close it for a month, I was just starring at the display and eating every frame of the animation, Ive even tried to recreate the trailer, but unfortunately, my brother deleted my folder from his pc (which was mine before I bought myself a notebook) that makes me sad, I hope its still on some cd, I have to find it and show you, I really want to watch my old animations, I have a great time doing that.I know you all do that too, its fun, isnt it ? :D Okay, Ive just wanted to type something down because I feel really awesome right now, a lot of stuff is coming to my mind when I see old trailers, or old animations like this one with the bmw m3, which is really great.

Hope you dont mind sending a comment ;)

Terry Gilliam. Several sources of interest have been prevalent throughout my life but his animations really solidified my need to do it myself.

Started in 2006 with experimental animation and I'm still doing stuff now, almost all of which I keep to myself...

Gilliam was the guy who made the animated sequences in Monty Python's TV show and movies. His animations wont make sense if I link you to them now because they were made with the specific reason of linking together unconnected skits of Monty Python. He also directed feature films like 12 Monkeys, Brazil, Time Bandits, Fisher King and Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas. So you can sort of imagine the animations a guy like that would make.

Actually Newgrounds played a pretty pivotal role for me as well, but I wasn't serious about trying it myself when I saw those.

Encountering Newgrounds truly exposed me to animation. The one animation I loved when I was younger was this: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/239365
I then started using various animation programs, starting with Easytoon.

Wow tawnik, I didn't know you were into this for this long.

Mostly stuff like killing spree got me into it in around 2005. I joined the forum wanting to know how to do stuff like it. I was fully into the stick fighting and pivot thing until around the end of 2007 when I just wanted to make real fullbody animations. I developed 2 shorts in high school and now it's my major in college. I'm now developing a short which will be sent to the ottawa animation festival next year. huzzah.

My first animation I can dig up is a really short 30 second flash animation of a stickfigure going though a floating obstacle course. It's a really small, sloppy movie but I love revisiting it.

Started about 5 years ago after seeing Xaio Xaio and Stickfigures on Crack. A friend showed me pivot, and I caught on the best out of everyone I knew. I also got easytoon, but didn't do much with it. The random animations in Stickfigures on Crack weren't funny to me anymore. I made some good fighting scenes, but never really enjoyed making them. So then I started making more realistic animations and eventually simulations. I went through a stage of no easing, and after finally getting my spacing right, I am were I am now. Then I got Flash and made some games that don't work.

I believe stickdeath got me first into sticks, before that I wasn't interested in animation really. Then I watched all the movies on there and typed in stick movies in google, came to stickpage and watch xaio xaio. Forgot about it for a while but then there was an animation class at my school, so I took it made my first posted it here and soon forgot about it again later. thinking of getting back into it though, just not stick fights. dunno if i have the time though :/

Memories. I remember in like 2003, 2004 I thought they were really awesome animations. Looking back it's just a really terrible cesspool.

Their site is back up but they don't have anything past 2005 and everything they have is awful. Still nice to look back though

For me, Newgrounds founded my inspiration to animate, but coming here was the final push I needed to start animating (since this is the first place I even heard about pivot or easytoon...)

Killing spree and Castle made me inspired to make animations. Went to the forums, found pivot then easytoon and flash. I started animating about 4 months ago.

Yeah, Xiao, Castle and those guys who made these animations really made a huge step, they helped us a lot I think we all should thank them and their passion that began, in most of cases, our passion to animate =)
