I've seen a lot of custom SPARTAN armor, as well as the seven-motherfucking-hundred dollar 'Official" armor. So, seeing as how in about a week I'll start getting some money in, I'm boldly going where every geek has gone before: I'm makin some armor. I'm using Pepakura for printing onto heavyweight cardstock, followed by a coating of Aqua Resin and fiberglass on the inside. I might mudglass it. I'll apply some bondo to the outside for smoothing. Then, a coat of primer, a coat of silver spray paint, and a currently undecided color. For the shoulders I'm using 1-inch thick packing foam sheets cut to fit the shoulders and helmet. I'm using a combination of Halo: Reach armor and Halo 3 armor. Here's a collage I made of the different pieces I'm going to use.

This is going to be done over a course of a year, starting around the release of Reach. When each piece enters a stage (Assembly, Resin, Fiberglass, Bondo, Paint, Done) I will post a picture updating it. Assuming my assbag dad doesn't snatch the camera.

The last time I saw a kid wearing full suit spartan armor made from paper I laughed my ass off. I'll be sure to do the same for you too.

It's not paper. Paper is damn thin. This is quarter or half-inch Cardstock. Very durable, combined with fiberglass, Bondo and Aqua Resin.

EDIT: And at Miniman, in seven months or so if this turns out as planned you're not gonna be laughing. You might chuckle, but a custom Recon/Scout/Hayabusa/Reach Spartan not made of cardboard will at least warrant a high-five.
