definitely. We'll need plenty of news reports, hopefully an easter egg where the player can listen to a complete broadcast/emergency CNN report.

But the game starts during a "panic" of zombies and people, so maybe if you could write dialog between the main character and his parents. When he gets home to his apartment, there'll be several people there for him to talk to, you can make them up and what they are. If you want you can include a possible love interest or something, or a good bud to help.

Cool beans. I'll do that stuff as soon as you want/need dialogue.

Speaking of a love interest, that gave me an idea.
What if along with hunger and thirst, there was morale? A high morale would make you move a little bit faster, aim a little bit better, etc. So if you had a girlfriend/regular friend with you, your morale would be a bit higher. And in the case of a girlfriend, if you had sexy times with your said girlfriend at night, the next morning you'd have a massive morale boost.

Also, how many people will you be allowed to have in a group? I mean, it would be cool to move with a squad people to fight with you, and it'd be useful as hell. There would just be more mouths to feed, and you'd have to weigh the advantages/disadvantages.

Advantages- Increased backpack space, higher defense rate, better able to search large areas in short amounts of time.
Disadvantages- higher supply need, not always able to predict actions (Say one of them gets bitten but remains in the group and turns when everyone else is asleep), needs leadership

Morale is an interesting idea, but i'm not sure how many people would enjoy "sexy times" laying on blood and gore. That would open up plenty of new options as well though, say there is only one female in your group and the other guys don't appreciate you being the only one to get her.

the idea of having sex with another woman sounds pretty cool.

You're not the only group wandering the wastelands, and if you're wandering alone, you may encounter another group. A chick in that other group may or may not like you, and her affection can be determined by a random number generator (1-10, 1 being "I hate you", 3 being a stranger, 5 being friendly, 7 inclination towards character, and 9 being infatuation. When a female character is met, her attributes will be in the 3-4 range, and depending on speech skill, you can bring that up 5 or 6 points. You can also choose to leave the group with her, but only if she's at 9.) this would piss off the rest of the group, since they have a number for you and her. Of course, the numbers for males always start at 3 (no homo), where as for men-women it may even be a 9. If you run away with a chick and there's a guy in the group who had a 9 towards her, he's coming after you.

And Dev, I saw your post.

Technical shit:
For the map (The Mat, as we'll now call it) We'll be using OpenGL, since it seems like that can handle huge images. For the engine, I'm still looking into C++ (Dear God help us) or Unity + Othello 2D Framework, which seems promising.

hate to double post, but can you write out a news story for me? Do it slide by slide, because the dialogue in this game is going to be like Pokemon, it would be like:
Marie: So, live from New York, it's our correspondent James Faggotier. What's going on down there faggotier?
James: Well, we've got a huge commotion here in Times Square. If you can see to my right, you can see several US Army infantry units moving into position.
Marie: Excellent! So, do you like fish sticks?
James: Yeah, wh-
Marie: Ha, you're a gay fish!
James: Fuck you guys you're a bunch of fucking fags.

I sure hope the map isn't one big image. Then computers would be loading the whole entire map at once, and it would be laggy as hell.

Sure thing. What does this news report need to be about?

Sure thing. What does this news report need to be about?

Maybe it would render as you traveled or something. or maybe sections of map? Although that would be lame.

Yeah, maybe several reports:
One on how to deal with the panic "Stay in your homes"
One on the areas being "Rioted"
and then One about the evacuation centers and the cities that have fallen.

But don't make it "THE ZAUMBEES ARE HERE!!!" thing. Try a more realistic approach, as in that the news don't know what it is.

I think I got the basic plot laid out.
1) You're on your way to work. Movement and gameplay is explained here as you walk to work and shit. On your way back, you notice that there's some sort of commotion on the street, and the cops make you detour, and although you don't pass any barricades, there's plenty of cops. Then, right before they lead you onto a main road that leads to your house, you hear shooting, and the crowd starts sprinting. You get swept up with them and sprint home, and when you get on your street, you see tons of cops and SWAT guys running down the street and pushing you into your house.
2) You run out and it's a complete riot. This is pretty much a looting level. You get tons of food here.
3) You barricade your apartment and hear the shots and screams as the cops get overrun and fall back. You meet your apartment buds and whatnot.
4) The zombies have pretty much spread out all over boston and this is it. You leave and the game starts. It's a back and forth between your house and looting.
5) Somebody shows you a radio that tells you to go to New York for evacuation.
6) You leave for new york.
7) Long ass travel segment.
8) You reach North Eastern NYC, and notice that it's empty, and as you travel further in, it's overrun with zombies. There's a fuckton. You set up outside New York and loot for ammo and guns.
9) A National Guard unit passes by and tells you that they were overrun and the last they heard, they were supposed to go to New York. They join your party, although there's not enough left to push into NYC. You loot more ammo and head in.
10) You push into New York, and eventually, you push into an area held by National Guard units. They tell you to head town towards Manhattan. Any surviving National Guard members you had in your party are held back.
11) You go into Manhattan and it's completely safe, and they're evacuating civilians via the southern pier.

Now, this is where I'm confused. I'm not sure whether to let the Army turn on you and you have to fight them, or just have a massive outbreak and you have to either stand and fight with the Army and your party, or cut and run to the boats.

On it. I'll have 1 or all of them done for you in the next hour or so. Tell me if they're too short or not.

Edit: A massive outbreak of zombies would be a better ending. I couldn't see the military turning on you for any reason.

If you know any AS3 developers, Unity and UDK can be compiled with Flash, but that's a 3D program, so I think it'd look a bit awkward for you game.
Also are you guys trying to make your game like Project Zomboid?

I saw it, and although it looked cool, it was too RPG for my likes.
I'm thinking about something more like this:

Yes, yes, that's the old Dead Frontier. I'm working on a Readme now that'll answer all your questions.

It's been going incredibly slow due to my AP classes ramming me right in the asshole. So I can't work on this right now, and I should be studying for a test that I'm taking at 6 AM right now. Just a bump, and also to remind you guys that I'm still working on sprites and Unity.

Nice sprite, but it's the wrong size. This is the format, or roughly the size your sprites should be:

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Correct size
Facing to the right
Correct shading
Linked to a real image of firearm
Caliber information
Price of gun in the real world
General information
Pros and Cons of the gun
Why is should be in the game/where it would fit in/where you would pick the gun up.Image
