I've been working on a stick figure fighting game in which you can animate your own movesets. You can get the game at my website, www.wayofthestick.com. Unlike the regular flash variety around here, this is a downloadable game. But it's still free! I figure this would be a good community to ask for feedback on the editing tools. The editor does some inference when the animation is played, so you can't just animate whatever you want. I hope it's not too restrictive, though. Feedback on the controls in the versus mode would be good too. Be warned though, there's no way to make the AI less difficult at the moment. More details about the game are below.

Movement and hand to hand attacks are the only tools at your disposal. Attacks follow a rock-paper-scissors style of precedence:

* Quick Attacks beat Strong Attacks
* Tricky Attacks beat Quick Attacks
* Strong Attacks beat Tricky Attacks

At the moment only a moveset editor and a basic versus mode are currently in place. Two movesets are included, capoeira and close combat (a Street Fighter 3rd Strike Ryu clone).

Ah I remember this on FA. This was actually extremely neat. I'd like to see where you continue to take this.

My goal is to create a real-time online RHG Battle Arena. I've got a ways to go, though, before I come close to the creative expressiveness of flash.

Thats a very nice concept :) music is kinda repetitive and the tools for animation aren't that great but when i think about it: kinda complicated to do it probably xD. good job though. the presets are nice and the controls are good. nice job.

Honestly I love the concept and coding of the game but work on overall animation skill... the game itself is good but it is hard to play when some of the animation could be fixed... continue this game but any others should be put on hold until you gain better knowledge of animation...

Thanks for the feedback. What would you like to see in the animation tools to make it better? A thing to note, the times of each frame are dynamically determined to try and maintain balance between different moves. So, you don't have complete control over the animation.

My objective is to create a framework in which animators can pit their characters against each other. I'm currently working on online multiplayer to make that easier to do. So, I'm not working to much on the animation front. Also, like I mentioned in my reply to Slasher the game dynamically determines frame lengths to try and balance the moves. So, animators don't have complete control for the sake of trying to balance gameplay. This may be busted idea, but I'm gonna need more people playing before I know if it's a big problem.

I've written the game with Python and use the Pygame library for drawing and some basic utility classes for things like collision detection. You can see the source on my github repository linked from my website.
