you should make a thread about it and tell the community what you've told us. maybe they'll tone it down if they know they're offending someone whenever they do it. this isn't an issue I think we can solve through authority

More and more I'm considering doing this.

I have something I'd like to ask.

This started when a guy bumped the thread up, and another guy minimodding. The guy who got the infraction for minimodding questions why he was infra team and Drizzle's response was as seen above. Now, I thought that drizzle was just telling him off, but I didn't think he meant it as an answer. Though I do think his reply was unnecessary and may instigate an argument. What do I do in this situation and what do you guys think?

I only give infractions for mini-modding when it's for posts that are actively adding to the problem. Like if someone spams and someone else says "don't spam" without bothering to report it.

In this case, since drizzle was correctly answering someone's question pertaining to an infraction, I don't see how his post can be considered harmful or mini-modding. If he gave the wrong reason then I can see how the post would be harmful, but that wasn't the case.

To me, drizzle didn't really answer the question nutsophast was asking. He just said that the reason why he was infracted was because the infracted post was pointless but I to me the right answer should be mini-modding, as IHATETHISNAME said.

Although it's also my fault that I didn't specify what rule did nutsophast break when infracting him, because I forgot to tick the custom infraction box.

Would I be blamed for week banning ACBeam? I mean, I know it's seem a bit like whiteknighting, but he said a lot of shit about Cami as if he were in the right, as well as essentially insulted Hew and Arch when he stepped into their conversation. And since Tsang isn't exactly around to handle his section....

If you want to, go ahead Azure. That would indeed make me inmensely happy... tho just an infraction for insulting a member would be fine.

I mean, if we read it... he basically just insulted people, hat just deserves an infraction.

edit: raptor apparently just mods know that tsang has been mia for the last months, cus the users still think that he has done an incredible job as a host of the bse and that he has been there through the whole competition, plus they're defending him cus "he is a nice guy".... which ends up in me taking all the blame for it, in a matter where they don't know crap.

What a silly situation. Some people are so fickle. Also Tsang has done literally nothing for a while so I'm going to remove him as a mod and op from IRC. Please don't re-op him.

I'm glad I still manage to handle reports when I'm in my inactive periods, or else I might have lost my modship. I love this position, and feel I do a rather nice job.

I mean, if you're gonna be away and still want to be mod the least you can do is give us a heads up. Or if you think you've been inactive and want to assure us that you're still around, just a heads up is nice to know. Tsang didn't really do any of that, and he hasn't been an active mod for probably a few months now. I remember looking at him back when BSE started and thinking that the only reason I was leaving him on as mod was for BSE, and he hasn't even finished that. I wouldn't worry about being removed for being inactive, most of the time I'll ask what's up before hand.

Out of curiosity, what is our actual policy on piracy? I've looked through some of the older infractions, and we've gotten people on asking for pirated stuff, telling others to get pirated stuff, saying they have pirated stuff.... Where do we actually draw the line on the matter?
