Uhh.. I'm confused.

Looks like two brothers were sharing a computer and because of that it looked like multiaccounting and resulted in permabans. Which resulted in this account asking why the other accounts got banned.

Also, you binned that meme thread? Lol, I thought we were supposed to let things die unless they were spamfests. Last time I did that, I got a talking to.

I'm guessing that nobody would care that much and start to post spam instead so I binned it lol.

Also if this is the case should we let him keep his account?

I don't believe that for one second. There are instances where this is actually the case, or there isn't enough evidence to suggest otherwise, but in his case it's obviously a lie, considering he made posts referencing his "brother" as if he had no idea who he was, or how he just happened to stumble across the same clan his brother was on. I'm not buying it.

Oh yeah we were talking about this recently weren't we? I was looking for a mod that does that. I'll see what I can find

Technically it should be Raptors job, but he's not active enough to be PMing every newbie

haha I think he means a modification to the forum, not a moderator. we can't possibly send a PM to every new user. although worst-case scenario we could send them to everyone who makes a thread in the into section, that's only a couple of people per day.

Turns out this feature is built in to vBulletin, just not enabled. What should the PM look like?

I'll let someone else handle the actual wording but it should link to the main forum rules, the Have Questions? Here Are The Answers! thread and maybe General Help along with the rules thread over there. It should also warn them to check the stickied topics before posting.

The PM should obviously contain some kind of short welcome message like "Welcome to Stickpage! Now that you've made your account there are a few things you should know about our forum" or some shit, followed by a link to the rules, and then another short message along the lines of have fun and be creative
or if you wanna go the whole nine yards you could explain each section, but I feel like that's not necessary
oh yeah, and the things Exilement said, stickies are important

To keep people from looking at the first 5 words and closing the PM, we should keep it from sounding too bot-like and standardized, if we can. Maybe the wording could be written as if Jeff was explaining the forums to one of us :p
