Okayyy I have a slight problem. I went to turn my computer on today and it just showed a black screen with white writing: "Operating system not found", and wouldn't go past that screen :o

Anyone know what this problem is? And how to fix it? I have windows 8, as it came with the laptop, and the only thing I've done is update it to windows 8.1 way back when it came out. D:

Typing this on my phone now, if anyone knows how to solve this problem it would be great <3 Otherwise no tryout ;___________;

Edit: Even if I don't get in, I'll still stick around and help out where/whenever I can because I love you guys :D

Sorry to hear that Flawchy :( Anywaaaayy did your laptop come with a Windows 8 disk?

I looked around, it seems this is a horribly common problem.
Microsofts suggestion involves using the boot disk or bootable usb to repair your operating system, buuuut this method doesn't appear to be as effective as Microsoft believes it to be.

My suggestion on the other hand is to check the hardware. Theres a chance that the cable for your hard-drive has come loose.
You know do the following...

• Power down your laptop
  
• Unscrew the the panel covering the hard-drive
  
• Remove the screws that are holding the hard-drive in place
  
• Check the drives connector cable and disconnect it
  
• Wipe or blow gently to remove any dust if there is any, then reconnect it.
  
• Place the hard-drive back in the computer, screws and all.
  
• And finally try to boot it up again.
  

I cant guarantee success but its worth a shot :D

You make it sound like he has until Tuesday to hand it in.....I'd say around mid-day(around 5-6pm) at the latest, this will mean we(especially I) won't have to wait aaaaaalllll day to see them, and Flawchy(if he can submit his) will have time to get back from school and upload.

Then of course we can judge properly over IRC at a designated time(please remember me, Tarek and Flawchy are at least 6 hours ahead of you guys so try not to make it too late in the day)
