Oh Miniman here is in the Navy as well. Not too active though. A few of us are actually in/have been in/or are in some process. Jeremy for example i believe is going through ROTC right now. Captian Cook is thinking about joining the Marines. I've been fighting with MEPS for 4 years to let me back in.

Yeah, i joined the AF hoping to go over. Pretty much everything you make over there is just saved up. Not like you need to pay rent or buy food or anything. If MEPS ever lets me back in, im hoping to go Airborne/Rangers and get deployed 3 months every year.

Hey, whatever looks good on the resume man.

Anyways, ashlander, that sounds like a good deal seeing as how many navy people are deployed 6 months out of the year, and many marines I know are deployed 1 year for every year on shoreside.

Er, 4 months sorry. The Army does 1 year deployments too, AF does 6 months. But most units under SOCOM go for shorter stints due to the extra stresses. I actually have a buddy from Power-Fusion back in the day who is joining the Army as an officer hoping to be a helicopter pilot, and eventually get into SOAR, the 160th Nightstalkers. If both our plans come to fruitition, he could end up flying my ass around. That would be rad as hell.

that sounds badass! So have you thought of maybe trying to go officer into that same program? Since they are giving you hell at MEPS why not go to the officer equivalent and try there? Once you have a degree of course.

Ranger Officers have to complete Ranger school before getting into the regiment. Enlisted just has to be airborne qualified and make it through assessment and selection. Ranger school isnt a requirement unless your an Officer, even though its highly encouraged that all Rangers attend, they all do eventually. Not sure if i'd be cut out for one of the hardest courses in the military right off the bat like that.

Also your talking about ROTC? Im not sure how that works. I thought they just payed for your collage and shit, then you had to join the military as an Officer after it was over. If you cant get in you owe all your tuition. Never really looked into it, so i dont know if thats how it is or not.

Well personally I dislike drugs, but am I wrong when I say theres a lot of druggies? There are, regardless how you feel about it.

@Ashlander: As long as you have a history of good grades, then you could go through ROTC and it would basically work that way. There are a dozen other programs but im not sure what exactly the army has.

"druggies" is a pretty judgmental term, and also riddled with assumptions.

i smoke a lot of weed, drink a lot of alcohol and trip a lot of psychadelics, but i don't consider myself a "druggie"

Good for you. I'm sure the military's dogmatic anti-drug policies (failed policies, I might add, considering the extremely high occurrence of veterans returning from service with hard drug addiction) has no bearing on your opinions.

This is the part I take issue with. Automatically you label anyone who 'does drugs' as a druggie. Druggie is a very specific generalization, and makes you seem like a 'holier than thou' prick.

I personally use drugs recreationally (on occasion), and am also fairly successful (usually by comparison, but I'm pretty sure I'm objectively successful considering my age and demographic standing)

Just saying, making huge generalizations based on a wide range of social behavior will make you look like an ignorant cunt.
