ACTA, is a international trade agreement that started out as far as 2005.

Its SOPA on steroids.

these laws are irrelevent beyond the extent of making what they do seem more "allowed" publically.

Not sure if you're talking about SOPA or ACTA but either way they have nothing to do with public perception, and they're hardly irrelevant.

I am not concerned with the governments usage of the law, its the fact that the law is able to be exploited by just about anyone. We will see what the future holds for ACTA, im pretty damn worried.

the US, Australia, Japan, Switzerland, and many EU nations have already signed ACTA D: That means that as soon as the bill is closed, every single fear we have had of SOPA and PIPA will come instantly into effect. Im sorry Stickpage, but we will be gone, and likely 75% of all internet users will be disconnected at least once in the next year, and this could be permanently. Google, Yahoo Search, Bing, Newgrounds, Youtube, Twitter, DeviantArt, and any other user-based website will either disappear (if they resist) or become the equivalent of police states. Your email, your posts, your torrents, your IRC chat sessions, all of it will soon be monitored. I think that the internet will forever change and will become infinitely smaller. And do you know what we will do about it? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Unlike censorship, which is targeted, SOPA can affect any website, from Facebook and Twitter, to Newgrounds and even Stickpage.

Not true. Websites like Facebook and Twitter have enough money to defend pictures on their site, and they would have advance notice anyway. I agree about Newgrounds, but Stickpage will probably be fine, since we don't really have any copyrighted items on the site.

The law does not grant them notice. They would be forced to police everything that goes through their site, from posts to messages and comments. Everything you say or do would be closely monitored. And if thats not enough, you would likely be banned from the website if you happen to post something that is copyrighted.
