I hope you kids are satisfied with the circle jerk "im the coolest and most aware of africa's problems" contest because no one in uganda thinks it's fucking helping.
edit: http://s3.amazonaws.com/www.invisiblechildren.com/critiques.html
they spent 850,000 dollars on "awareness" products and millions on awareness programs. They might have probably been able to spend that near 9 million dollars on actually helping the victims but i dunno i guess people need to wear kony's face and that'll show him.
The man's goal when he was setting out doing this insane shit was probably to be remembered. Thanks to the sharers invisible children he's known far and wide and the world will remember him. believe it or not making someone famous could be a good thing for them.

im not. the people who shared kony 2012 probably don't give a shit what uganda thinks and thusly don't share it. there aren't enough white children giving their informed opinions in the video to be captivating to americans.
edit: I like the top comment of the video : "You want facts you piece of shit? Kony fled Uganda at least 6 years ago. He hasn't been back since. The Ugandan people do not want a military intervention and who can blame, their country has been in chaos for over 2 decades. There was no indication by the US government that they were going to remove their 100 advisors they sent. And now my opinion - You or anyone else in the west has no right to want military intervention in a country that doesn't belong to you. fuck off"
I admire people who can lay down solid points with brevity.

I actually did a presentation about Kony 2012 in my Social Study's class today. I totally told the class about how Kony left Uganda 6 years ago, and that other stuff about how most of the Kony 2012 campaign is bullshit.
My teacher gave me a 100% mark. 8-)

I just hope the shit they're doing on 4/20 raises enough donations to make more than they invested with the ridiculous awareness campaigns they spent millions on, and I hope none of that goes to the people who made it and that it actually helps the victims of this insane shit.
They picked a bad day to ask for donations though. Everyone's going to be spending their money on weed.

For the cynics out there:
Do any of you know where all the money is going or are you just assuming because the motives are questionable that the ultimate cause is bad?

All the money aside, there is still the fact that they are supporting the training of a military force that has already been known to commit countless atrocities in Uganda. To what cause? To chase down a man who hasn't been active for more than 5 years and attempt to somehow weave through his battalion of children soldiers, harming none of them, and kill him directly. Honestly, the whole cause is misdirected and surrounded by a fog of propaganda.
I will commend his film-making abilities and the ability to evoke that much false pathos in just 30 mins.

Quote from FizzysodaI don't support invisible children. I support what they are trying to achieve. Lots of people in my class are going all "OMFG KONY IS OUT THER GOTTAH KKILL EM!"
I asked them why they cared about these people in a half the world away. they said, "they CHILDREN DEAD!" I replied with "some one dies every 60 seconds, why do you care about them only" the bell rang and I never got my answer.
Stop acting like you're some prophet.
I seriously doubt you have enough intellect to provide a compelling argument against any given topic with your own thoughts and opinions. You are the type of person who is going to stick with the crowd and do what they're doing.
I bet you were right there with your other twelve year old friends talking about how bad Kony is and how he needs to be stopped.
Quote from Captain CookHAHAH HAHAHA
The guy has no intentions of actually fighting.
31% of the income (2.7 million) goes to the Ugandan military. 1.2 million actually goes to the founders for "travel costs".
This whole thing is a scam, and within a month, it'll all be forgotten.
Isn't it funny that they include a package you have to pay for? Shit, you'd think that they'd at least give you a reach around when they're fucking you in the ass this hard.
Well technically you get the package if you donate so in a way you don't have to pay for anything at all.
Have you ever seen teh "I <3 Boobies" bracelets they sell for $5 that supports breast cancer? You do realize the store that sells these needs to make profit if they are purchasing them to sell, and the business has to make enough profit to cover their expenses, anything left over is then donated. That is how charity works. It's not like you going to some office and handing the representative a twenty dollar bill means that all or even 50% of that money is going to stop whatever cause you are supporting.
They claim to want to raise the awareness of Kony, so that is what they are doing. Paying for their travel expenses is not a crime, it's hard to consider it unethical as well.
Are you guys honestly so shocked to see that only about 30% of the money donated is going to the cause? I wouldn't be bothered or surprised if it was realistically 20% going to the cause.
You know what this sounds like? That whole stop SOPA shit where that guy had a piece of secret information to help stop SOPA, and the information he had was that some of the largest supporters were hypocrites because they made and supported some of the softwares that helped piracy and file sharing. This is the exact same thing. Holy shit you guys doing research and finding this out is not the undoing of the Invisible Children organization. The only thing that seems sketchy in all of this is the fact that they haven't had a real audit. It's a nonprofit organization. It's not like these people are making profit off of this. They're using the money donated to help their cause. Do any of you have the money to make round trips to Africa on a regular basis? The fact that money was spent on travel fees makes me feel like they do actually care about their cause. And so what if the maker of this video has a nice house and rides around in a fancy car? If I was concerned about a pretty severe cause and made a non-profit organization and actually tried doing something to help this cause, I would like a little something out of it to. Perhaps that's selfish, but I don't know. You help try to stop someone that is abducting children to fight in his militia that has no cause other than to see the world burn, and you can't get a nice car out of it? That's not cool.
It's called business, and most of the good businesses profit because they lie, cheat, and steal.
Stop acting like them being sketchy or not using 60-90% of the money for the cause is a bad thing.
Edit: The purpose of the video and organization thus far is to make Kony famous. A week ago I didn't know who he was. My brother posts some stupid as shit about him on facebook sometimes.
I was at my girlfriends house a week ago and she told me to google it and what I found was Koning, which is the act of ordering an ice cream cone at McDonalds and grabbing the wrong end to incite a reaction from the presenter :/
God these people are just the worst, right?
Quote from FizzysodaNice flaming, kudos.
looks like you won, congrats.
I like how you say this like "Aha! You broke the rules and now everyone is going to see and you might get punished for it!"
You said something rather unintelligent and he commented on it. Judging by your user title, he refuted your logic. So I see why you would be upset. It's completely justifiable.
