Exactly. The anime would have been nearly perfect if the ecchi was cut out. In fact, most ecchi are like that. Look at Highschool of the dead... the action, plot, soundtrack and characters were pretty good for a guy like me, who grew up watching zachbell, the prince of tennis, and naruto. The constant panty flashes and boobs were amusing the first 4 times, but it got annoying quite fast. To the point where I questioned my sexuality when I went out of my way to censor the ladyparts with my fingers. The gas station scene when the thug got ahold of the whiny chick was borderline hentai. Ew, cooties.

So fan-service generally comes at the cost of the quality of the show? And you seem to agree that it's a bad thing? So your list was a lie?

Why are you guys talking about the anime of Elfen Lied? That was an Abomination compared to the manga.

Eh, that means watching/reading the same story for a second time around, something I would prefer keep for the best of the bests, which Elfen Lied clearly wasn't.

Plus, you know, reading is hard. Yes, yes let it sink in, there we go.

The manga had quite a few differences. The starting scene where Lucy is escaping is different. They're characters (Character? There's at least one major one) which is never introduced in the anime. Hell, the ending is completely different. The Elfen Lied manga has probably given me the strongest feels of any manga/book/movie/anime/game. Anybody who hasn't watched the anime is doing good. If you want to watch something with gore, watch gantz. The manga if gantz is also pretty awesome.

EDIT: Actually, watch the anime of Elfen lied if you want a light hearted experience. Read the manga if you want a heavy experience. Be warned, I've never had something feel like I actually got punched in the feels...it was very intense.

I really wanted to stop watching at the point where Those really mean bullies do certain things to the innocent puppy dog just to piss lucy off, but once you get past the unnerving gore scenes, ecchi, and the cute but annoying noises 'nyu' makes, its not that bad an anime. And comming from a guy who chuckled at most scenes of clannad, The feels
They are so strong. Especially at nana's scenes. I recommend it to everyone willing to have their parents scream at them for watching pron even though you keep saying ''ITS NOT PORN, MOM! ITS ART!'' Yeah. that was a dark day at cookie's house.

Had a heavy experience, read the full manga, but the final.... OH GOD.

Also no one saw my question lmfao, who here watched Seikon no Qwaser? probably one of the fan-service animes that i loved until now.

Raptor, you don't know about the Mediocre Sequence Execution? It's only like the 2nd-least popular stick figure combo competition ever! For 10 consecutive rounds, you'll be tasked with animating a mediocre combo such as:

Kick, Fall Asleep, Kick

set in a random theme each round. How mundane!

Veeeery funny~

but seriously though, I came for the weird plot, stayed for the origins, and stayed more for the main pairing. If it gets discontinued, I'd wallow in my own desapir. Good unfinished stories tend to haunt me.

Ohhhhhhh you're talking about Mahou Shojou of the End. You should've said so sooner. I don't believe it's discontinued, it's more like the scanlators got lazy/don't have enough funds to do another scanlation. Generally, if something isn't updated for half a year, it's most likely given up on. That's sort of why I like anime better nowadays because you always know you'll be able to get your hands on them.
