Wait!!!MLP:FIM is anime...seemed more like a cartoon to me...btw what is the difference between anime and cartoon (because that would mean Ben 10 is anime or a cartoon)

He knows that, he's just messing with people. Jombo showed me ika musume. It was the first anime I watched, and still one of my favorites. It takes the general anime idea of using a weird-ass premise and making something awesome about it. It's about a girl who's half squid who tries to take over all the humans for polluting the ocean, and winds up working in a cafe to repay a debt by the end of the first episode.

Sankarea is also pretty good. Manga is funny as hell, recently turned into an anime. It's about a boy who's obsessed with zombies and a girl he accidentally brought back from the dead using a potion from a zombie book that just happened to actually work. She's still pretty normal, but she has moments where she forgets everything and starts trying to eat human flesh, like a proper zombie, and her arm recently fell off for the second time. Overall, it goes between funny and serious, but it's a nice read.

When the fist episode of Ika aired, the subgroup's squid puns made me cringe so much that I dropped it and never tried watching it again.

Sankarea is very mediocre and has been becoming more disappointing with the recent episodes. Mero episode was so boring it was almost unwatchable. Weird how people who don't watch anime often mention one that's currently airing or is very new, like Another, HSoD, Yaoi no Exorcist, or Deadshit Wondershit before it was on AS. I really wonder how you people find out about that stuff.

Probably the most cliche flagship shonen jump anime/manga out there right now.

Anyway, I'v been hearing a lot about deadman wonderland. What is its main focus and is it worth a watch or just overrated?

Don't waste your time with Deadman Wonderland. It sells itself with tryhard shock violence, like Elfen Lied, and the plot is shallow as fuck. The protagonist is a stupid annoying faggot and the reasons for the jail existing and why he's in it are a gigantic stretch; the weird "blood superpower" magical bullshit on top of that completes the clusterfuck. The storyline is event driven and it's emotionally empty. It tries WAY too hard to be ultraviolent, since the violence is it's main selling point.

It has already been a year? Damn.

Anyways, try a series that actually has good characters and writing. [Pretty good chart]

While I don't say they're objectively good, my personal favorite series are Planetes, Baccano, Seto no Hanayome, Bakemonogatari, and After Story.

Planetes doesn't look very interesting to me, but I'll take a look at it, Baccano was good, Seto no Hanayome I will check out, Bakemonogatari was good, After story... I can't watch anything clannad related because my eyes start to bleed from the terribly over exaggerated moe art.

Thanks for the chart Index. I see some interesting ones that I haven't heard of before in there.

Space garbage men doesn't seem interesting? Well, it's a fantastic series.

About Clannad: I know that Key gets ragged on for its character designs, but I think watching it through is definitely a worthwhile experience. Clannad is good, not amazing, but After Story... I cried... like, full on cried. More than once. There are certain flaws I know it has that people mention a lot, but no other anime, movie, book, anything— has struck me as emotional as some After Story scenes. I actually used to keep it off of my favorites list because it made me look bad, but I came to terms with myself and accepted that watching After Story was an amazing experience. I don't think it's one of the best series I've seen, but it's one of my favorite.

What are your favorite series?
