So I'm watching Gurren Lagann with Clannad AS and I just finished the first episode of each. Gurren Lagann looks like a blast to watch. That anime even with the first episode is so vibrant with personality. Clannad AS is a bit of a disappointment because I was expecting a change from Clannad. The thing that irks me the most is the fact that Sunohara still gets treated poorly in the anime. He always gets the short end of the stick. I get that he's supposed to be the comic relief character, but having a character that is constantly static and doesn't change after a whole season is just bad. Rarely does he ever get a moment where it's his time to shine and it's a real disappointment. The first episode itself wasn't that great because it was just incredibly unrealistic. Highschool girls doing phenomenally well against a Koshien pitcher? That just makes no sense no matter how you slice it and it bothered me throughout the episode. And Sunohara doing bad for the sake of comic relief just felt out of place. I hope the rest of the season isn't the same as Clannad or else it'll be pretty boring tbh. But I have high hopes.

That is actually a really good way of describing TTGL, vibrant, that's a good word. But yeah, TTGL is pretty much a superior Kill la Kill, it's a little stupid, extremely bombastic, vibrant, but has more of a streamlined plot, better written characters, and slightly more consistent art. The only think Kill la Kill does better is have a better antagonist.

God dammit man. Stop giving me updates if you don't want to get spoilers! It's getting really hard not to write them walls of text... All your complaining is also making me want to re-marathon the whole show so I can tell you you're wrong whenever you do finish it... -.-

Well he is the token manga guy...
EDIT: Omg, the hype!
But really, it has A-1 pictures, the director of Fate/Zero, Gen Urobuchi, Kalafina, and Hiroyuki Sawano. My expectations are going through the roof!

The summer time looks stacked with good anime so far. It's this and that one I showed you before jellyfish, the one that is being done by the Cowboy Bebop guys.

There's also apparently the Fate Stay Night remake and a second season of Psycho Pass

Fixed. I duuno, I think joining TeamHype is fun, it get's me pumped up for stuff that is sometimes 6months away, and while being disappointed sucks there is nothing quite like going "whoa, this is everything, absolutely everything I wanted it to be" and you sit back and let the void consume you.

There actually isn't that much that I'm looking forward to in the summer... That said, what I am looking forward to sounds like it's right up my alley, so if I only watch five shows but all of them blow me away I'll be a happy chap.
But yeah, Zankyou no Terror is something I'm keen for. I don't know a lot about studio MAPPA but in Watanabe and Yoko Kanna we trust. If they take this down the road of a super serious anime then it will be brilliant, but if they dump down the themes for a 14yr old audience I'm going to have a bad time.

I'm not sure what is going on with Fate/stay night, here it says that it is an anime original route, which gives me hope, but if they were planning on doing an anime original plot then why would they make Fate/zero's ending so shit?! I dunno, I want it to work but won't hold my breath on this one. As for psycho-pass, the first season is being re-edit-ted with some new content and being made into 11 one hour episodes, which I think will be brilliant, and then the second season is coming out in the Fall (I hope they carry over the one hour episode style though).

I just finished reading Bokurano. Fucked up. But it's pretty satisfying and isn't actually a deconstruction of mecha anime as I had hoped it would be. It's more of Evangelion as a coming of age story. It started out as such but as the series went on the characters flourished and carried the story further. I just can't stomach the author's cynical/nihilist attitude. He just loves twisting the knife at the most inopportune of times.
Oh yeah, if you're planning to watch the anime instead, it ends differently and certain characters are more evil/good. The director thought the manga was too depressing to end it like the anime so with the author's permission, changed it to be slightly better. Basically, he gave it a Madoka Puella ending.

I was actually contemplating watching it, but Gonzo's really strange looking CGI mechs has me wondering if I'd be better off reading it. Which do you think is better? I like the idea that the characters in the manga are less clear cut (or at least they sound more ambiguous), but I'm not sure which ending I would like seeing as I really enjoyed the ending of Madoka.
I dunno, I place my trust in you once again.

I read Bokurano, but I haven't watched it. I dunno, I really liked the way Bokurano ended despite how horribly cynical it was.
