Guys, guys, guys, real talk. Second season of RWBY just started, and I loved it... So yeah, I think I'm going to go ahead and say that RWBY is my guilty pleasure IF we're going to consider it an anime, which I suppose most wont. But seriously, 5 minute long food fight, whats not to love? Actually don't answer that, I already know the answer...

That episode was funny... I love that they put in a joke from RvB in there finally too when they said the one guy was like a big cat and they said like a puma... Sadly no one called a puma a myth though

Also how is RWBY a guilty pleasure?... It has rooster teeth comedy which I know alot of it is stupid funny but either way it's still funny

If you like short anime like that Tonari no Seki-Kun: The Master of Killing Time is pretty funny with only 7 minute episodes... Basically it follows a kid who tops me in school for not paying attention

Senyu is another short anime with 7-12 minute episodes that at some points will have you chocking on water and other times it will just have you laughing... Either way you can watch both of them in the matter of one day

I just finished watching the first season of Free!, last two episodes was sad (opinion yeahh). Now, time for Free! Eternal Summer :D

Oh, and I started watching The Devil is a Part Timer yesterday (Haraku Mao-sama, whatever the Japanese title is), currently at episode #2, so far so good :D

Hataraku Maou-sama was a pretty nice watch
it was entertaining as hell, never a dull moment
everyone should stop everything they're doing and watch katanagatari though

Because no matter how you look at it it's bad? The animation is clunky and pretty dodgy CG, the voice acting is pretty mediocre, the writing is pretty bad at times, the characters are pretty simple, and the pacing is horrible. But I love it. Every part of me thinks that I should dislike the show, but I don't, and going beyond that I love it almost because of it's flaws, the fact that it's almost 'indie' gives it a lot of character and I find myself enjoying almost everything about it. So it's a guilty pleasure.

You weren't around when Tonari no Seki-kun was airing. This thread pretty much got several plugs a week from me, so yeah, I guess you could say I'm a fan. Though most of that is because of nostalgia reasons and my love for Kana Hanazawa.

I wanted to say something witty, but I've got nothing.

I would maybe say that Tokyo Ghoul is aimed at teenagers and suffers from heavy censoring (that I think makes sense) due to it's target audience, while Brynhildr in the darkness is aimed at adults and suffers from heavy censoring because fuck you (and silly TV laws I guess). Which makes Brynhildr in the Darkness more frustrating.

In terms of pacing it's looking like they're both as terrible as each other.

I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed Devil is a Part Timer, it balanced it's light hearted side and it's more serious side really well and turned out to be a lot of fun.

As for Katanagatari, I didn't like the ending, I was also a tad disappointed that it had a lot less action than I thought it would have in it, but that's just a minor grudge I guess. I was surprised by how good the dialogue was, like the show is 90% talking, but I didn't get bored once, conversation just flowed so well. The 50 minute episodes were cool as hell and I wish more shows adopted a similar approach.

bruh, that ending was a masterpiece, but from what I've seen some people didn't fully appreciate it, and I respect that I guess even if I don't understand it
the anime itself was just great though, I really liked the way I couldn't really predict a lot of what was going to happen, like I usually would be able to, having seen so many anime already that follow the same formula, and the development of the characters and their relationships was great,
I even cared about the useless ones, RIP maniwani bug corps

Ehhh, I'm not seeing it, though I'l elaborate a bit more on what I didn't like about it, keep in mind these are small niggling complaints that just bug me personally.
spoilers! duh (Click to Show)

I dunno, something about it just didn't sit right, and even if the problems were fixed, I still don't think I would consider it a 'masterpiece ending'.

Yes the style is a bit cheap but rooster teeth never really did anything like this before... It's kinda the best they can do at the moment... Also it seems worse than it is because RWBY actually was going to get shut down half way through the first season... But it got a nice size fan base and it was decided to finish first season (from what I have heard...I don't research anime that I find so-so)

And damn I wish I was around for seki posts but I took a break from the forums for a while and as you can see when I decided to get back into it from when I started posting...I would go back and try and read from the beginning but it would require alot of time to get through 317 pages on this thread... I will get to it later because it will be fun to read it all but it will have to wait

I started writing a huge response but realized I didn't actually have a point, so I'll say this, it doesn't seem like it's their intention to compete with the big names in the anime industry (yes, I'm saying anime), and this is a semi-pro production meant as a web series, because of that, they're lack of experience and budget resulting in lack luster animation is justified, but just because it's justified that doesn't make it any better, it's still not quality no matter how many excuses (legit or not) you have.

That said, season two is shaping up to be much better, I watched one of their production diary things, and they were talking about a few things they're using to make it look better, and it's really showing. Small stuff like characters walking or moving during dialogue looks more natural, and the horrible blacked out background people is gone completely, which I'm so happy about!

I'm legitimately surprised to hear it almost got cancelled, I also haven't been able to find anything about it, I thought it has a pretty strong fan base from the very first episode seeing as RT and Monty had a following before hand. Either way I'm happy that it's still going, it would have been a shame to cut off the story before it had actually begun.

They're not worth sifting through the thread for, there isn't actually a decent write up but more small one liners scattered throughout the thread. But if you're really desperate I'm sure searching 'Tonari' and my user name in an advance search will bring up a few of them.

Tell us how you really feel.

On a side note, I've watched three episodes of SAOII and the plot still hasn't progressed past the synopsis that's on MAL... It sure is a good thing I want to watch endless amounts of recapping, character cameos, exposition, and side plots because I sure as hell aren't getting the actual plot anytime soon. Who knows, maybe that's a good thing?

Anybody here already heard about the new Dragon Ball movie?

Source

And I just saw Free! Eternal Summer episode 4 (can't wait for next ep). And idk why, this may just be me, but Free reminds me a lot of KnB (I know, I look drunk xD). Rin is like Murasakibara, Makoto reminds me of Kyoshi, Haruka (the way he speaks) reminds me of Kuroko, Rei looks like Midorima.

Oh, and am I the only one here who watches anime by using my dad's smartphone instead of watching on the computer? xD. It feels like it's more comfortable watching in a phone (where I just lay down on my bed, instead of sitting in front of your PC with a chair for a long time until your back aches like crazy) haha xD.
