Did anyone watch the Akame ga Kill anime?

Like, I see people harping on why the anime was so much worse than the manga, but to be perfectly honest I think the anime was just about as good as the manga. In that they're both pretty mediocre/bad.

They handled the MCs death fine. Esdeath kills herself with Tastumi, the leader of Night Raid is like "well shit," and Akame gets depressed. And everyone else who knew about Tatsumi is dead. So the death that he had was fairly realistic in terms of reactions. I honestly don't know what you mean by "they treat it as if nothing happened." In fact, I thought they handled the ending very well, and it seemed to be something that would actually happen in the Akame universe.

I think what he means by

"akame ga kill" (Click to Show)

"treated it as if nothing happened" is the fact that Tatsumi's death isn't in the ending, and the fact that it's been his show up to that point kind of makes it feel cheap to some. Like, Akame fighting the final fight is like a last minute attempt to make the title "Akame ga Kill" justifiable by making the anime to actually be about Akame. So the "they" are the makers of the anime.

That's what I've read about it, anyway.

Even then I'd still disagree. I still think you can make a perfect legitimate argument that Akame is in fact the main character or at least alongside Tatsumi in both the manga and the anime. The author uses Akame as a plot device to appeal to readers who like OP characters while using Tatsumi as a crutch to appeal to readers who like character/power development. The manga/anime always focuses on both equally; in fact, a huge part of the plot is the parallel between Akame and her sister. Akame even has a spin-off comic exclusive to her.

Either way Tatsumi still participates in the last battle in the anime anyways, so I don't buy that argument.

In terms of appeal then yeah you might be right, but with the involvement to the plot and screen time, Tatsumi definitely has been more present. Dealing with Esdeath and Sheele and that Metro-macho guy's deaths were Tatsumi's show. The part with Akame and her sister has been there, but it wasn't really that big a chunk of the plot compared to everything else that Tatsumi has been involved in.

Tatsumi did participate but he died on like the second to the last episode, and the final push was by Akame.

But I'm really just a messenger and as I said before I don't have any personal strong opinions about it. This is just what I think the people who have a problem with the ending were saying.

Tbh, in the anime, Akame doesn't really feel like a main character, it's main focus was about Tatsumi. Well sure, there's Akama and Kurome but still, Tatsumi feels like the main main. However in the manga, they feel like both are equally the main character.
