OverLord is kind of ending up as just another promo anime for its source. Like no matter how it ends, there's no way we're going to get more out of what's already been shown.

Pretty much this.

Alright, so I just finished Ping Pong the Animation.

It has its flaws and its overly cheesy moments, but overall, Ping Pong was an absolutely phenomenal anime and probably the best I've watched in a while. Probably Top 5 if not Top 3 greatest of all time anime. It's really amazing. It's such a nice breath of fresh air to get a studio willing to take risks and having it pulled off in such a fantastic way. This anime I personally think is even better if you're someone who does sports or engage in some competitive activity. It enhances the meaning and feel of the anime a lot. Man Ping Pong... it has slight downs, but its masked by its amazing ups.

Did I also mention that Ping Pong has a spanking ass OST? It's excellent.

If you haven't watched Ping Pong, you should do it.

you're probably right, but the fact that there's scenes from later volumes in the intro gives me some small hope that they plan on doing a second season

exactly this, I was worried the unique style was the only identity it has worth watching. Because frankly, that's the problem for most animes I've seen. Fortunately I was wrong. Which is why I fucking love this director. The only 'problem' I can see are those you've mention and that the overall story is a generic sport shounen anime, but when you have great characters and visually striking images that helps tells the story -- instead of just the sake of being artsy -- that's hardly a problem.

@Drone I love your new set <3

Is Inami is an awesome character? or am I just biased because she' not oversexualized?

I used to play table tennis so I don't know why I haven't watched Ping Pong yet. Like I even remember seeing the PV and I was like "well this is an obligatory watch" but I guess there are just too many anime out there that I prioritized more. Like right now I'm planning to watch Code Geass because the internet's basically spoiled it for me so I might as well get it over with.

That sucks. The impact of the ending was one of the best parts of the anime IMO.

The ending was a masterpiece.

I still feel the feel I felt that day.

By spoiled, I mean I've managed to connect the dots. Like, nobody's explicitly told me any spoilers, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know what this statement
"Code Geass" (Click to Show)
means.

So like pls don't add more to that lmao

Thanks dude, and Inami is the best man, idk what it is about her tbh but I love her, she's adorable. She also grows the most out of any of the others throughout the series so that's something as well

I have to say though I'm not used to this much product placements (looking at you, Pizza Hut) in anime. The Dr. Pepper in Steins;Gate and the Mister Donuts in Monogatari are like the only ones I've seen that I can think of (there's no Dr Pepper where I am so I never actually knew Dr Pepper was an actual thing while i was watching Steins;Gate, and the Mister Donuts one was a little bit more subtle). Like, it's mostly been some dumb way of hiding corporation names like "Pucaro Sweat" or "WcDonald's". It's throwing me off a bit but I'll probably get used to it.

I've seen this show's writing be praised to the heavens a few times but I just think some of the characters here are a little too "cartoony". Like those superhero comic books where the antagonists are super evil bad guys and the good guys will do no wrong. But even so I think it'll be kind of interesting to see the development.

My only real problem with it right now is that brain transition thing that they always do when Lelouch uses Geass. Like, holy shit nobody needs to see that more than thrice. It's just so weird and so unnecessary, and it's the same every single time.

I'm actually going to start Code Geass tonight (because I haven't watched it either). I'll post some of my thoughts here too when I get around to it.

Imo I didnt like that much the brain control transition either, it kinda cools off after a bit if i remember correctly.
I just know that I love every single opening of the series, and overall the ending is amazing as others have already said.
For me, the product placement didnt really bother me at all tbh, Didnt notice it alot either , guess i am bad at paying attention to details.

About to start shirobako, the idea of an anime about making anime sounds cool. : D

product placement in anime is always more of a "lol, there's that" moment for me, rather than a disturbance. Generally there isn't a lot of it in anime anyway, although there will be the occasional wcdonalds or something
