isn't the point to recreate a specific sequence under certain conditions, in a way that's realistic and shows actual competency at animating basic movements? isn't that the best way to judge who's "better" at animating? or is this about who can make the flashiest, most entertaining animation or something
just curious since I'm new to this. I was under the impression it's the former, and I'd rather not waste my time laboring over every detail to make a physically accurate animation that's too "boring" for anyone to notice.
I see what your saying, now i would like if this competition was only to see the animating skill of a person and not how many angles they can fit into 100 frames. But yes, this is about making it flashy, and making what people like to see. The most "good looking" animation gets more points. But then again, the people arent the ones making the votes, very good animator judges will be making the decisions, and they will defidently count in how realistic the animation is.

er, right, that's sort of what every contest is about. I get that. just curious how one animation is judged to be better than another.
I guess it's just sort of an observation, really, either way I'm going to animate it as realistically and accurately as I can. it's just weird seeing so much effort being put into cinematics and so little effort being put into making the ground actually look slippery. or making sure the combo makes some sense anatomically.
flax did a fucking amazing job, he seems to have the right idea. that'll be hard to top
