IMO your cousin is right , drums are way easier. For quite obvious reasons. Like its easy to improvise with Drums , as long as you have rhythm. While Sax requires much more practice. But that justs , my opinion.

but on the saxophone, u just have to move ur fingers.....meanwhile on the drum u have to do fill-ins play with a double bass pedal, and open and close the hi-hat, without stopping, and the longest song that my band does is about 14 minutes long

I hope you're kidding. Drums are way easier. That's why it's mostly women on them.

I'm kidding, but really, anyone can learn how to play drums in a few hours. Albeit, you won't be great, but you will still know how to play. While, the sax, on the other hand, you need to know how long to hold a note, how much pressure to apply to the buttons, you need MASSIVE LUNGS, etc.

Drums and Saxophone are both hard and take equal amounts of time to learn. For both, it takes a short time to be good but it may take years to become great.

Why would you compare a rhythmic and melodic instrument in terms of difficulty to play?

They require different types of skills. Drums require precision and multi-tasking between limbs while playing a saxophone requires finger dexterity, intonation, breathing control..

Drums are easier to pick up and play but both are just as hard to get good at..

I don't know, I personally don't think you can reasonably compare the two. Though I can suggest that you quit arguing over something that trivial and just play what you enjoy without trying to add to your ego that your instrument is "better".

Once your muscle memory is able to get the movements down so you can easily switch between the different parts of a drumset, all you really need is rhythm.

So maybe after a few weeks of practice, you should be able to play pretty well.

Wrong. I have played drums , not much tho. But still fingers are limbs , and there are 5 of them , i don't know how many buttons are on the Sax tho , and it involves even more limb control , and IMO it's even harder than moving two hands , cuz i play guitar and i know how its is to move many fingers and i wont say its easy.

Depending on the tonality and the company that makes it, about 20-25

Yes because the sheer amount of buttons is what determines the difficulty of mastering an instrument.

By that logic learning the piano must be nightmarish.

I already stated , why in previous posts . And Pirate in this case yes , Flac said that its harder to play the drums cuz there are allot of stuff you have to do , while on the Sax its only buttons , but it really ain't no "Just buttons" try playing guitar or any other instrument you have fingers involved , the opinion changes quite fast.

I do play the guitar.

Rest assured my motivation to learn the instrument was not "SWEET MOTHER OF SCIENCE, LOOK AT HOW MANY FRETS AND STRINGS THIS INSTRUMENT HAS, IT MUST BE SO HARD TO LEARN THAT I WILL BE REGARDED AS A GOD FOR DOING SO".

You're basing your argument on nothing but the mechanical aspects involved in playing the instrument. Mastering an instrument has nothing to do with that, those are just the basics that anyone has to overcome. Becoming a good musician is going to pose an equal amount of challenge regardless of whether you're plucking strings, hitting buttons, blowing on a reed, or hitting things with sticks.
