Because they still broke the law. I'd imagine they got fewer charges, though.

I remember at the end they said they all got the same charge with $50,000 bail set.

Who knows. Not like dateline is going to give the right information.

Quote from Exilement
It's about intent. If someone goes up to a cop and intends to purchase illicit drugs, that's criminal behavior and I don't see any problem with arresting someone for it.

Right, but it would be better off if law enforcement isn't part of that statistic. If they didn't spend time trying to get people to by drugs, maybe there will be less drug dealers/buyers. They should spend more time trying to catch them legitimately. Even better yet, maybe they should try to prevent people from even attempting to buy/sell drugs.

They're on public chat rooms having extremely lewd, sexual conversations with minors knowing that they're underaged.

Except they are not really under-aged.

Even if the minor begin the discussion, any sensible person would ignore them once it becomes sexual. Someone who's a little disturbed might cyber, and then end it there.

But these people? They make arrangements to meet an underaged girl at her home, alone, and then go through with it. This isn't an immediate decision they're pressured into. If at any point they were willing to reconsider their actions, they had all the time in the world to change their mind on the drive other there.

Yes, but you shouldn't "stir the pot" to try and make these people commit the crime either. Even if they aren't being pressured. They are still initiating the act.

I normally try not to think too hard about morality stuff, cause then I start feeling bad inside my head, like I'm a terrible person if I pick either choice. However, seeing as this is the debate forum, I will give my input on what I think should happen. I think that they are doing the right thing catching these people, and they are dangerous people, but I think that giving the same charges to people that turn the car around and don't do it is wrong. Also, I think that they shouldn't force them so hard. I saw one episode where the guy posted "That's illegal, I'm reporting you" and then she said "no, just wait a sec" or something along those lines.

Well the reality of it is, is that anyone who is caught must be pretty damned stupid. I mean it's 12-16 year old girls average age range, I know that any of my sisters would know better to give out personal information on the internet especially in a chatroom. If anything get a diary ffs.
