i smoked for a few months, because all my mates were, and I thought it looked "cool". But once I got into it I hated it and found out that it actually wasn't a "cool" thing to do anyway, I stopped, easy as that

Some people look cool while smoking, other people doesn't. I think we shouldn't be so quick to condemn things as purely bad or purely good. Many people enjoy smoking, they like the taste and it relaxes them. Is is then wrong of them to smoke?

This is just stupid.

People smoke. They know about the negatives. It is their choice. I don't smoke because even being around second-hand smoke from a cigar and such I start hacking and wheezing. Thusly, I won't smoke. Not because it will shorten my life by the tiniest bit, but because it hurts my lungs to be near it. But the people that won't even try one only because of the negatives that exist after continuous and long-term smoking are truly ignorant and are plain stupid.

Edit: Using the death rate of smokers is pretty dumb. How many of those people are old? Probably a good portion. And they still live fairly long lives.

I only smoke on social occasions when someone else offers me one. Wouldn't want to be rude or anything. It helps build a tolerance seeing as a whole group of my friends do it.

I just remember that time I saw two women who looked about 90 with shriveled, marked, dead-looking faces and wheezing coughing voices talk about how one's 35th birthday was coming up. As soon as they got off the tram they lit up.

Oof, that put me off pretty good.

my mother's been smoking since she was 9, and she looks her age now.

i usually try to avoid smokers

I smoke, and my great-grand-mother smoked two packs a day. She lived to be a 101 years old.

Smoking CAN be bad for you, it doesn't have to be.
