Does anyone have any counter evidence for the "scientific" reasons for the world's destruction? By this I mean the Yellowstone Volcano, the supposed solar flares that will be hitting us etc? I'm sure there's some counter evidence, I'm just not sure which counter evidence is valid if I ever need to use it in an argument with some of my dumb friends that think the world's going to end.
[edit]
Also, wtf, why have I only just seen this sub-forum?

I don't think a solar flare could ever hit Earth, I think what you're talking about is CMEs which aren't doomsday material anyway.

I don't understand why there're always news stories about it then:

Saving 6 billion people at the same time will be easy as shit.

You have no idea, of how true it is. The pedopope is a human, who uses people's beliefs as a shield. If he says "Follow Jesus", I'd rather follow Satan and burn in "Hell".

Solar flares? lmao no. they "hit" the earth but they're just charged particles that can interfere with electronic equipment, it's nothing destructive.
Yellowstone isn't going to erupt any time soon and one volcanic eruption isn't going to end the world.

I'm sure it would be predictable with some sort of warning time if Yellowstone *was* going to erupt. Even as catastrophic as I've heard it would be, I bet that there could be some sort of mass evacuation to a safer area.

we can be hit by a Gamma-ray Burst too. it could have happened before, 450 million years ago when we had earth's 2nd biggest mass extinction. and it happens all throughout the universe, which could wipe out potential alien life aswell :<

"Safer area" here meaning China. Not easy to get everyone to move there.

if that shit erupted, it would just fuck over our country so hard. at least the east coast is safe, i guess. i wonder how far the soot would travel

I saw a documentary a while ago, probably somewhat false, but it said that the main problem with Yellowstone will be that the ashes will cover the majority of the world. This will mean that it will block out the sun, ash will rain upon us and crops will fail to grow etc etc etc, ending the world as we know it; meaning the technological advances, killing most of the world's population and returning us to the middle ages or some shit. And this is apparently supposed to happen later this year due to increased volcanic activity. Why is this incorrect?
