You know, I'm studying for exams and I noticed that almost all the authors we did during the year say that life is suffering, and joy is just like alms for a starving man: it just prolong his pain.
I want to see if it's true with a simple question: are you happy?
Don't lie for create a false image of yourself on the web, hiding the hard truth...

Most of the time, yes. There's nothing in my life to be unhappy about. Anything about myself is something that I can change, so there's never anything on that front that bothers me. For instance I was getting depressed about my weight, but then I realised that there's no need because that's something that I can solve. Take a look at this picture:

I guess my general disposition is happiness, but a lot of times I get upset or depressed about something that happens (usually something that I have done).

So you two are satisfied of you lives? You savor each moment and love people? You can die realized? Very good! Looks like you don't have induced desires, I'm happy for you :)

What do you mean by "induced desires"?

Almost all our desires are induced from outside, but some of them risk to impede our happiness; if someone wants money or social position too much it's a big problem.

Yeah, I'm one happy mother fucker. Seriously, it's a miracle that any of us get to experience life at all. We're at the end of an evolutionary chain stretching hundreds of millions of years back, starting with some random chemical reaction which eventually led to our existence. We're sitting here on our computers, discussing this with people from all over the world, and our ability to do that means we're among the most privileged people on this earth. The problems I have on a day-to-day basis are absolutely meaningless compared to the suffering most of humanity has gone through.
I'm lucky as fuck and I never really lose that perspective. It's hard not to stay positive knowing all of that.

I see such a few answers compared to views; is it cause they cannot admit their unhappiness? :(

Either that or it's not a very interesting topic and doesn't offer much to actually debate.

You should read Mill's Utilitarianism. It has a nice little rejection of this idea somewhere around page 10, depending on the copy.
Overall, yep, I'm happy.

I'm fucking miserable. I'm not gonna sit up here on this computer telling you my whole life story but there's always some kind of depressing thing happening to or around me.

I'm OK, not angry sad or happy right now. I have a roof to sleep under, a nice warm bed and lots of food. But then again I have to worry if all these stuff get taken away any moment now. I also have to worry about our oil and electricity prices going up, but then again...

happiness comes and goes. i think a more interesting question would be "are you satisfied/fulfilled?"
