edit: i just realized you said super mario brothers sucks. wow, go fucking kill yourself you massive faggot

I wouldn't even think about playing super mario brothers, sure it was decent for it's time but now yes I would say it (and every other mario game) are pretty fucking bad compared to a lot of games.

Only reason I would image someone plays it is for that feeling of nostalgia.

it was one of the best game ever made, it had its moment, but now, on the long time, it has lost the appeal it had before

it's like saying "since Ford's model T was incredible, it should still be in modern times"

What exactly makes super mario bad that has no longer withstood the test of time?

I'm not necessarily saying it's a bad game, in my opinion it's bad when you compare it with newer titles and essentially multiplayer is what makes games fun for me. I don't understand single player games at all, it's really a mystery how people enjoy playing the halo series campaigns by themselves "Oh yes I just shot an alien! headshot!" Really? Only simpletons enjoy this, surely? You can literally go ahead and apply that to any singleplayer game imo. Multiplayer, competition and community creates longevity and replayability in a game.

Let's face it, most console games will be released, then be forgotten in a couple of months. The only reason you guys can call super mario bros a good game is because you're feeling nostalgic, feel free to prove me wrong.

Not really, why? I mean if you need it to be re-phrased for you so you can understand sure I'll go ahead

I don't understand how single player games can be fun

Are you fucking kidding me? If anything, it's the multiplayer I never cared about.

The Half-Life saga from Valve is hailed as one of the greatest pieces of videogame fiction, and none of them include any semblance of a multiplayer.

Playing Singleplayer is like reading a book, except that instead of hearing of the character's adventures, you are the character, and for the time being, you are in his shoes. You become the protagonist of the story, and SP games are amazing for the same reason books are; I can go from high-jacking alien warships in Halo to roaming the post-apocalyptic wilderness in Fallout, so building my empire and putting my enemies at the edge of my sword in mount and blade.

Okay, that's one game though. If I wanted a story I would read a book understand? Any way I look at it, it's a waste of money in my opinion compared to other games for example CS:S where I've played for over 1500 hours and still enjoy it. I understand value for money isn't the definition of 'fun' but really if the only reason you can see fun in it is for the story then I completely agree with you since the rest of the experience is trash.

How can you call somebody a simpleton when you're the ignorant fuck that can't enjoy a story or art?

There's a fucking plethora of incredible single player games that are all creative and innovative in their own way. And they all have far more effort and thought put into them than anything like call of duty or halo or whatever bullshit you play.

Single player games actually withstand the test of time and develop followings. Games that rely solely on multiplayer are irrelevant as soon as the next comes out. What does that have to say about how good they are? People still play NES and N64 games everyday. Who still plays Cod4? Nobody. Because it's fucking shit and people only played it for the online.

If you can't appreciate creativity you shouldn't even be on an animating website.

Sorry ichi, but I'm gonna have to agree with most, if not all of what's being said here.
I still own a ton of games on my old systems and play them today, not for multiplayer, but for the fun and creativity of the single player.
Game developers work hard to create and maintain an interesting campaign for the player to have him/herself aroused in.
New games too, Asura's wrath was an honorable mention for me. The game was short, and didn't have multiplayer, but I played because the story it had was interesting enough to keep me playing, same with many other games.
Hell, I gave Black ops a shot, and played that shit for campaign other than multiplayer. Yes, it is this preference and sometimes sheer ignorance that the gaming industry is falling too mainstream, and will eventually all to nothing but utter shit.
