I've been looking for some good tutorials on the above metioned topics,looked in the tutorials,certain tutorials by Mr.Pinkus and,(paprerclip,I guess?) on how to colour,but i'm looking for something more advanced,for example how to create backgrounds like these.

Hey Foscex,nice tutorial,by the way this is the bkg i made for bse1(unfortunately didnt fint time for the anim) What do you think? Its on similar lines.

thanks! that's why i'm looking for the bitmap thingy to enhance textures.Please let me know if you find anything on it :)
