If you could manipulate time itself, and say you made time stop in the universe, what do you think would happen to everything around you? I'm not just talking about you slowing everyone's perception of time, I'm talking about actually fully stopping this phenomenon we call time. I think you'd simply die. Since everything depends on time in the world such as light, sound, energy, EVERYTHING, and you stopped all of that you'd just be stopping and annihilating every single process in the known universe. But that's just what I think. What are your thoughts on this matter?

But how could you see anything to perform any actions at all? How could you breathe in the air particles and could your body respire, how the hell could you even think if you completely stop the space-time continuum? This whole thing is a giant mind fuck. But seriously guys.

Well the matter is if the phenomenon of time were halted, do all the aspects of the universe, even frozen in one spot under manipulative command, still apply?
Does light still shine static? Is it a dynamic only aspect that allows us to live?
I'd like to think if you tried to take a rock and throw it while in between the boundary of time, it will not move from it's origin.

thats about all i know about stopping time, though. we can't even slow down time, even a little bit, unless we go through time dilations. I doubt we would even be able to do something like stop time itself..

Since you're using your mind to manipulate time in this little example, if you did try to stop it however, it would be impossible to completely 'stop' it. It would be like a car race to the finish line. It would be the physical world vs your mind and body racing to the finish line. Both would be going at the exact same rate and so if you try to stop time, you'd also be stopping your thinking and physical processes which are the things that are controlling time which means you can only go so far as to make time slow down so much that it would seem as though you've stopped it if ever there were another entity observing your manipulation of time which was immune to all effects of the physical world, (assuming said entity had the same speed of an average human's thinking speed or perception of time). You couldn't breathe because air wouldn't move to fill the vacuum in your lungs.

Would you need air? Who's to say freezing time wouldn't also mean you escape most of the fundamental laws of physics?
If I could stop time I would fuck with people. Like hit them really hard in the face and when they spin around their head twists into a spin kick whilst I simultaneously sweep their legs. They wouldn't even believe the kind of ass beating they'd catch.

if you're not frozen, why couldn't your lungs suck in air?

Breathing usually works by diffusion. You create an empty space and particles will fill it more or less instantly because they bounce around so fast. But with time stopped nothing is going anywhere. You could expand your lungs and create the space for the air to move into but it wouldn't move of its own accord. You'd have to jump around actively swallowing the particles.

so, if you froze time, you wouldn't be able to see, or breath.. someone should warn Hiro

Are there any other superpowers that realistically end up being horrifically bad to have? Besides immortality.
