Well, how to say... everyone has different ways of drawing sticks, (NOT LIKE 4 LEGS and 12 ARMS) Sometimes bigger heads, sometimes small heads, Jombo usually draws his heads in different shapes in every frame, I was making heads a Movie clip symbol, that way it'll be easier for me and no need to redraw, you could look up on random tutorials on youtube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOouzsIPNWs&feature=relmfu - this one is pretty easy and not complicated, Smoothing: You can put it how you want, i usually use 41 smoothing, Jombo's Default 50, Terkoiz uses 25 smoothing or something, We all have different preferences,
Head size: Heads matters, you could make it small or big, If you look at any of Pluto's anims you'll see the way he draws heads really big, EVERYONE has unique styles,
Torso: Good animators say that stickfigures are really nice if they're realistic, If you make legs one size torso should be a little smaller, however i make torso longer than legs of my stickfigures,
Legs: legs aint just some sticks attached to the body, as you can look at your legs you'll see you have knees, that way the legs could bend,
Arms: Arms have elbows, just like legs have knees, arms could stretch,
AND ALSO: about the necks, animators say it look ugly when stickfigures have necks, they are right, but you could just add a little space between the arms and the head
so it'll look normal and not ugly,

I hope i helped,

you can animate using tweening, which might be much easier for you since you already work with sprites. just make a layer for each limb, head, etc. and remember to make a folder for each stick, to keep things organized.

I know this error, you press "Ctrl + Alt + delete" => select tab "Processes" => right click on "flash.exe" => select "set priority" and set it to low! do it everytime you open flash! :D
