There's no options for filters when using symbols. I just got flash 8 and posted an effects test on the community page :)

Your animation would be a LOT smoother if you animate at any framerate between 20-35

It's easy to change your framerate.

Just right-click - Document properties - Framerate

And set it to whatever the hell you want!
