FILEIZE IS BACK. THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE.
I've made all the changes necessary for Fileize to work as it did again. Thanks for your patience and understanding. Look out for some changes within the next few months!

What is Fileize?

Fileize is a file hosting website that I started back in 2008 under the name Pulse Shift. It's focus is not so much on storing large files, but rather sharing your content quickly and easily. Currently, Fileize houses most of the stickfigure community's animations as the most popular file host. Fileize has also begun servicing other communities in recent years, such as a Maple Story animation forum and a sprite animation forum. Fileize is completely free, and has limited ads to support itself. In it's 4-year history, Fileize has been known to be reliable, never losing a file even during unexpected downtime. As Fileize grows, so does the technology powering it. Fileize is equipped to handle lots of traffic and store lots of files, so you can be sure your files are safe.

What does Fileize offer?

If you've been around this community for any length of time, you'll be accustomed to the type of site Fileize is. Fileize takes your media files and gives them their own page for people to view. Even more data-oriented files are supported for sharing. The current list of supported file types is as follows:

  • Flash Files (Swf | Fla)
  • Image Files (Png | Jpg | Gif | Bmp)
  • Zip Archives (Zip | Rar)
  • Text Files (Txt)
  • Photoshop Files (Psd)
  • Music Files (Mp3)
  • Pivot Files (Piv)

Aside from a decent selection of acceptable file types, Fileize offers a fairly robust system for making your files private. With an account, you can upload your file with privacy enabled, so that only people who have the direct link can access it. It's not listed under the search box, and it wont be listed on Google. What you choose to do with the link is up to you. In Fileize's 4 years, no file has ever been leaked.

So what else do you get with an account? Here are some of the benefits to having an account:

  • Archiving your uploads, files you upload will be listed on the front page
  • Disable commenting on your upload so that users can't post comments about it
  • Delete your uploads from Fileize, guests cannot do this
  • Set a nickname so that your uploads will have your name on it

Being able to have your files always ready and at your disposal is a valuable tool. Having an account with Fileize allows this.

Aside from the uploading and accounts side of Fileize, you might be interested in just browsing files out of boredom, or maybe you want to find something you saw once a while back? Fileize has you covered with it's in-site search engine. Simply type what you want to find, hit enter, and you're off on your way! Many people don't know the more advanced options of Fileize's search engine. Here's some tips:

  • Searching usernames or emails will get both uploads by that user and uploads with that name in the title
  • Search for key words, if you're having trouble looking for what you want
  • Typing filetype:"swf" at the end of your search will present only results that are swf files, you can select multiple file types by adding | inbetween each type (example: stickman filetype:"swf|fla")

Feel free to visit the Fileize FAQ for some more detailed information.

Fileize Flash Plugin

Latest Version: Beta 0.8
Download: None Yet

I am releasing a Fileize plugin for Flash very soon! The plugin, as seen in the video above, allows you to very quickly and easily share your animations and games with other people by giving you an upload button right in the Flash authoring environment. With one touch, your file is exported and uploaded right away, with a link to your file saved to your clipboard on completion, ready for you to paste to friends.

Currently, the plugin supports Flash CS3 and up. Flash 8 is not currently supported, I will continue to look in to possible solutions for you guys, but it's not looking good.

What's next at Fileize?

There are some grand plans in the works for Fileize. Fileize is showing it's age, and I think it's high time that it got a face lift in both look and functionality. I've gone through a few incarnations of "the next" Fileize, and have finally settled on a simplistic yet function style that I like. In the works is a HUGE update that will change the game. It's called Fileize Lite.

In the new version, the most notable new features are the ability to upload multiple files at once, the ability to drag and drop files on the website, and extended social options, like being able to vote up or down on a file and share it with your friends VIA build-in facebook and twitter functions.

To whet your appetite for upcoming Fileize features, here are some screenshots of the in-development build:

I'm really digging the new design and features. You should add profile pages or something along those lines.

Man, I can't wait. Thanks for not charging anything, haha.

edit: I sounded like a dick.

Mango, profile pages are planned, but they wont be anything expansive, Fileize was never really meant as a portal substitute and I don't want it to turn in to one lol

Also bad news on the Flash Plugin for Flash 8 users, I tested it last night and it doesn't work. This is due to Flash 8 being without AS3, which is what the majority of my plugin is programmed in. What will likely end up happening is that I'll code a separate version down the line for Flash 8 users, but that's only if AS2 is strong enough.

Wow long time no see cosmo, where you been?

EDIT: It's looking grim on the Flash 8 plugin. At this point, it will either be really slow, or really obtrusive. I think I'm leaning towards just not supporting it, because Flash 8 is about 7 years old now, and I feel that supporting 7-year-old products doesn't lead to anything good (*cough*IE*cough*).

Yes a much better system for organizing and displaying your files is being worked on. It has a list view and an icon view, and is sortable by different variables like name, date, type, views, rank, etc. Folders will work how you would expect them to and will allow for better sorting and also mass-deletion if needed. There will be special folder types, too. Most notably, a "recycling" folder where deleted files are stored (not seen by the public) for a week until they're gone for good, so you can restore them if you need to.

There's a small possibility, but I feel weird supporting Flash 8 as it really goes against my personal philosophy on outdated software. In the same way I no longer design websites with IE9 and older in mind, I find it hard to really put time in to supporting Flash 8. That doesn't mean I definitely wont, it just means it may come later, if at all.

Same just happened, it works fine with refreshing it a few times.
