What's so special about stickpage?
Just browsing a forum for 5 minutes doesn't give you the same perspective as the people who have spent years being part of the community there.

I just liked the people there. Everybody there was nice, young and so full of potential. It made me very happy.

You just got me really melancholic. Heheh... I didn't even spend that much time in the FA forums, probably not even on IRC but I know damn right FluidAnims was one of the most united online communities I've ever seen. It was also one of the most productive and disciplined and still is in the new headquarters. :D I mean, FluidAnims turned beginners into animators with perspective and goals in only a few months. When I first went to FluidAnims I was running away from the trolling on old StickPage. FA was always way more... welcoming. It was simply friendlier, more fun, with lots of great people to hang out with and learn from. So that, long story short, is what was special about FluidAnims. It's funny to hear people refer to it as "part of StickPage history". Well, I think it has a history of its own. :) There were moments I thought it would outlive StickPage.
EDIT: Oh, and you know what else was special? Traditions and RHG and clans and all the things that diversified stick animation.

I didn't get my name out on FA (only made one post and rhg page), but I still liked to browse it, then the merge came and I'm a lot more active here and get along with a lot of people.

WELL LET'S SEE!!!!
FA was great for animators to go onto...
Much of it was not really forum based but more based around a community working together to get shit done and exploit the seemingly underrated art of stickfiguring...
Artists in general were mainly attracted to this site...
Chances are if you didn't animate, draw, write, code, or frequently watch FA anims you had no business being there... It wasn't the forum itself that was so great, it was the site ultimately that caused many aspiring workers to want to join... especially considering that it welcomed everyone as long as you followed the rules and gave back to the community...
If you don't do any shit in particular you'd hate the site immediately...
If you are engaged in any somewhat artistic activity generally FA was definitely the place for you...
I pity any animator who never got to be on FA...
Now you know!

FA was the first animating community I had ever joined when I got into flash. Jeff, Stone, and Terkoiz were my heroes. I tried learning HTML and server coding so I could make epic web layouts like Jeff. I wanted to learn how to shred on the tablet like Terkoiz, and most of all, Stone made me want to treat everyone like family and friends, he motivated me to be kind and give good advice even if someone was flaming at you. Fluidanims felt like a community and I loved everyone there.

The rating system on Fluid makes it unique to me.

Most people already got the main point.
But to me
Fluidanims... Like just everything, the collabs, the tutorials, the RHG battles, it all just made me feel this sort of way that just makes you want to animate for FA, and just feel happy.
I mean especially being new, I remember when I first found FA on youtube, I just couldn't get enough, I washed at least 20 videos on the FA channel just that night, I even got to know some animators, just by watching.
Watching those anims inspired me to make stuff like that... In pivot.... Didn't really work.
But then I got flash, and I just started watching tutorials, I would get up at 5 in the morning before school just to watch some tutorials before I went to school. And I would go through the whole school day just thinking about the fun stuff I was gonna do when I got home.
Eventually I was invested enough to finally visit the site. That was a magical moment,
anims as far as the eye could see
RHG
a chat room of people!
I rember when stone came on I got to talk to him through his livestream, I bet him that I would get good at animationg without the need of tutorials. (stupid bet right?)
It was all too fun, alas, I found FA too late, just after 3 months the merge happened. I for one did everything I could to fight for FA, but I could only do so much.
They claim that FA is still in SP.
But I don't see the FA community, I just see a bunch of people from FA on this forum.
But whatever, that's just my 2 cent.

Time to see how old some of the people are here :P
WHo remembers stickslaughter? That website was the SHHHHIIIUUT
Anyways, FL was great. So was shiftlimits! This is more of a showcase site while fluidanims was more of an indie developers one stop shop for help. :
