So I'm not a junior member anymore.
I've been challenged three times now, and have been working my ass off on all of them.
I'm in a clan.
I'm gonna be in the dot collab.
And am in a clan, things are really looking up.
So why do I make this, you may ask? Because I have a question, for all of those veteran members here.
What was it like for you? Y'know, when you first started Stickpage.

Do you not like it because of the whole merge with Fluidanims?

Oh, well I kind of like it. Everyone's kind of nice, but there's still the people who think they're so good at everything, and can say what the want. Why don't you like it?

The amount of high quality members that contribute a lot to the community (outside of animating) has gone down considerably while the number of vocal idiots and/or foolish 10 year-olds has skyrocketed. The non-animation part of the forum is also a lot less active; Used to be that the chat thread would often get 100 posts a day, now it's lucky to get 10.

I would agree with you, but I've only been here two weeks at the most. Even though I'm not a very good animator, I can relate to what your saying. I've seen GOOD animation, and since the FA merge, I was hoping to see the same thing. Honestly, I don't know how the hell people are still even using pivot. It's like what you said, just idiotic 10 year old's doing shitty fight scenes.

Pivot is actually quite good. Don't disrespect the people that actually use it well Half the pivot animations I have seen, far outclass that of the flash community.

Which is a shame because when pivot animators want to do anything beyond reasonably decent stick-figure animation they'll be back almost at square one.

Typical story.

I was told by friends in primary school that there was an awesome site with stick games and animations. I would spend quite some time browsing the main page, but I had no idea a forum existed.

A few years later, I bumped into the site again. This time, however, I wanted to start animating given that my computer skills were somewhat improved. So I lurked the forum as a guest, browsing around the tutorial sections and so forth.

About a year later, I decided to make an account. At first I was mainly focused on animating but (like many other members), my passion for animating began to die. I then started to chill around in the general discussion section.

Presently, I just visit stickpage out of habit. It was my first and only forum. This forum is funny. First you like 'em, then you hate 'em. Enough time passes, you keep coming back. You become institutionalised.

I don't know if I count as a veteran member but I also used to browse the SP portal for quite a long time before I actually saw there was a forum (which had at least in my opinion a better design than now). I registered , wanted to start animating like Terkoiz and Oscar Johansson (the guy who made Castle) , saw that I had to pay for flash, so I downloaded Pivot because I didn't have the money to buy flash.
I went through a long pivot time with bubbles (he had some other username back then (me too, I was the_grimreaper)) and Zed.
Then I saw the Fluidanims sign in some signature and also started to post on Fluidanims, met Oxob3000, Stone (also in real life once) , kidkei, frank, etc.
Well, I spent more and more time on FA until I pretty much stopped being on SP, only on its portal.
Then at some time I spent time on both forums, then again FA.

that kind of cycle lasted a long time, then I applied as a mod, the merge came and here I am :)

Oh god. My brother started watching some of the flash on here, and was convinced he wanted to get into animating. We talked about it and tried everything and finally our grandma bought us "Koolmoves" and he started animating. I didn't understand half the shit so I just watched in amazement. He made an account here, and hoping he'd think I was cool, I did as well. He was 11 and I was 12. I stayed because there weren't many females and I felt wanted, then I realized I wasn't so I left. I only come back now because it reminds me of him and I've gotten back into art and animation.
