They're different .stk's. Try getting Pivot 3, it has thicker .stk's. There are a bazillion ways of getting it, trust me. ^^

You could try using Windows Movie Maker, if you want something that fails to do the job with anything but the bare minimum. You could get Sony Vegas, also. Or any movie editing package, really.

Any version of flash will do, though CS4 is the newest and most powerful. You can, however use the free animation programs to make stickfigure movies as well. You can download those by clicking on the link in my signature.
