So, i'm getting a synthesizer soon and i've been looking around for one but can't seem to find a good one. I don't know too much about this stuff, so i'm gonna ask you guys.

Anybody know of a good synth?
I don't mean visuals, i mean ability. I need one capable of doing alot.

Cheers.

I see it as no more of a waste then a guitar or anything else.

I get easily bored of Fruity Loops. I prefer more practicality.

Unless you were getting at something else?

Fallen is totally right on this one. I mean why would you get a program to make music. When you can take it in reality and it's much more enjoyable, but harder. :P

But who knows, you may even become a professional music maker and will make money out of it. So buying a keyboard is a really recommended choice.

But it's your choice thought.

Whoa, banned for trolling.
S'pose i'll have to reply on this account as my other temporary account got banned aswell.
WTF?

A synth is pretty much the same as a keyboard. It's like an upgraded keyboard. Unless that was sarcasm?

EDIT:
Are you serious?
A synthesizer is the type of thing that makes electro. It's not a computer generated program.
Enter Shikari use a synthesizer, along with many other good bands.

Don't get a hardware synth. Buy a macbook, buy software synth programs and buy a MIDI-keyboard. A hardware synth is pretty much a keyboard with a program that lets you edit/apply effects to the sounds. With a macbook you can download a hell of a lot of different programs that works as synths, It'll be just like a hardware synth, just with better options and more to do.

Some good software synth programs are Reason, Logic Pro and Korg Legacy collection.

If you still want a hardware synth the microKORG, evolver, electribe or Korg triton are rather good. I highly recommend buying a macbook though, I just did it myself.
