It's unfortunate this series is so unknown/unpopular outside of Japan. I finally started getting into it after breaking through the initial steep learning curve. This is MHFU. Looking forward to MH3U for the 3DS when that comes out next march.

Yeah you will needa vita/psp or 3DS if you want to experience what the series has to offer.

There are also versions on ps2/wii however the most popular is by far MHFU for psp.

Closest thing I have to monster hunter is dark soula, which is awesome. There will also be an mmo in the spirit of monster hunter which I would love to play.

Ah yes dark souls is similar in many ways. I think it lacks much of the depth of MH though.

My friends have been trying to get me into Monster Hunter Tri, and since I've never heard of the game before I watched some gameplay of the games and they seem alright. I'll probably look more into the game soon.

It's one of those games that you grow to love. First time you play you will probably rage quit, or quit of bordom. But eventually it clicks.

With Dark Souls I fell in love instantly, no question about it. It has an extraordinary charm about it. Only after playing Dark Souls I came to know about MH. I Can not wait for similiar games to invade PC.

There is a game called soul sacrifice coming out for vita. Supposed to be like a mix of dark souls and MH. Vita exclusive though I think :/

I have literally thousands of hours logged into this series (original, freedom, freedom 2, freedom unite, and tri). it's one of my favorites. I'm actually getting a Wii U mainly for MH3 Ultimate.

Yeah that makes me tempted to buy a Wii U
