Weed was officially legalized here in Washington for people ages 21 and up. During history my teacher had asked the class whether they thought it was a good idea to legalize marijuana I had an answer for all of them
"marijuana kills brain cells and causes damage to the body"
-Alcohol and cigarettes are both legal and they both cause more damage to the human body as well has kill more brain cells than marijuana.
"marijuana can cause people to do stupid things like drive off cliffs and whatnot"
-The police are going to crack down on people for driving under the influence of marijuana. And even though marijuana is a gateway drug. It wont cause you to make irrational judgments as extreme as jumping off a cliff...
Do you think marijuana should be legal. Why or why not.

I guess if people really did want to smoke pot, it's their wish so they should be able to do so. But I personally don't think they should. It would ruin a person's life even more than drinking or smoking because it makes you go a bit off the cliff side (HA), and you'd stink even more than a smoker and a drinker put together. That was all over the place but whatever, you get what I mean.

I guess it depends on how you treat the situation. Smoke it once or twice a week. And keep it below the radar. Shower regularly (personal hygiene bullshit) just keep it to a minimum and don't make it a habit. Cause it will then escalate into an addiction. But thats really the only thing that could ruin you. an addiction.
Thats honestly the only thing I could think of that would have an extremely devastating effect on your life. Developing an addiction to it.

marijuana is not addictive. people who develop a dependency on it are just the same kind of people who develop a dependency to coffee.
and i don't feel that it should be necessary for me to point out all the things that are wrong with this sentence: "It would ruin a person's life even more than drinking or smoking because it makes you go a bit off the cliff side (HA), and you'd stink even more than a smoker and a drinker put together"

Yeah I didn't phrase that properly lol. Plus I was sleepy at the time. Anyway, why would you say marijuana isn't addictive? Dependency on something like that is being addicted. That's what it means doesn't it? Or are you just messing around?
Nov 10, 2012 8:37 AM #783311
no. the drug is not chemically addictive. you cannot become physically addicted to marijuana.
weak willed people become mentally dependent to the effects of it. and again, i will compare this to caffeine. ever heard someone tell you that they can't function until they have their coffee? it's the same shit. "i can't relax until i smoke some weed"

And governments are doing everything practical to reduce consumption of both.
I don't really know enough about marijuana to have a stance either way on this issue (leaning towards pro-legalisation just for the tax revenue), but I don't think this is a good argument.

FUCK YES!!!
A WEED LEGALIZATION THREAD!!!!
Well of course I think weed should be legal due to it being harmless for the most part and it's not an addictive drug...
To be honest I think the only reason why it is illegal is because the government can't really tax it and or profit from it because it grows easily like a weed (hence the name) and can be used by anyone... Things such as alcohol and tobacco require farming and brewing which would mean it can't be grown by everybody and could be capitalized off of due to the average person not being able to get the product... I don't think the government particularly cares that the drugs they help sell are harmful, they seem more interested as to which is more profitable...
If weed was to become legal in all states as a drug then many consumers wouldn't need to do things such as alcohol and cigarettes to get a buzz or feel better... And also considering the drugs the government sell are addictive with weed being non addictive and people could quit when ever they wanted they no longer depend on the government's products...
But yeah, my belief of why it's illegal...

Quote from 2-Dlol, what the fuck? have you ever smoked weed?
I was stating that it can create a form of addiction whether physical or chemical. Although apparently it isn't physically addictive which this I was unaware of.
Yes I've smoked marijuana

i definitely think it should be legal. i dont smoke it myself on account of i like to always have my wits about me. but deciding if it should be legal or not seems simple by looking below. vv
1 out of 5 americans are killed by cigarettes. cigarettes- LEGAL.
miniscule to no recorded deaths by marijuana in america. marijuana- ILLEGAL.
i believe the main reasons its illegal (in most areas) is because it causes laziness and lack of production which makes it difficult for a business to function.
government has probably illegalized it mainly for personal gain. marijuana destroys almost no brain cells. that "fact" is actually not true. if anything it kills less cells then watching tv does.
it may not be necessarily good for you, but i think that should lie in your hands to make the decision to use it or not.
also i find quiks post extremely educated and accurate. (just saying)

What kind of definition of harmless are you using, because pretty much every study ever done on marijuana shows that it impairs mental abilities like memory and coordination to some degree, and many studies show a link between marijuana use and adverse psychotic effects when it is used over a long period of time. I would consider that a form of *harm*.
Whether physical effects like lung damage, heart problems, etc. can be caused by marijuana is kind of inconclusive, but inconclusive isn't the same thing as definitely not.

What does "can be used by anyone" even mean? I don't see what kind of information you're trying to get across with that. Also, alcohol can be made by anybody. It's not fucking rocket science. There are entire online communities made for the sole purpose of discussing this activity, and there's a sizable amount of people who do it all the time.
Do you really think that the government doesn't care about things being harmful? I hope you don't really think that. Why do you think tobacco products can't be advertised on television anymore? Drugs found to be harmful are recalled all the time.
The things you are saying aren't your opinion; most of them are *objectively* inaccurate or just flat-out wrong.

ohhhh ok so the government kills us with cigarettes but they dont use commercials to kill us faster! man they are just fantastic people! they obviously have our best interests in mind and not there own greed for money! i wouldnt be so trusting in government. the CIA is actually one of the biggest drug dealers out there and they definitely dont like local weed farmers monopolizing there customers (even if its a small drop). and i think quik was stating that its much easier to make then alchohol and tobacco without large factories and such, not saying it was impossible. id think twice before defending the government since they mainly only likes you for your tax bills.
