Listen here you bamboozled screw heads.
I will post a topic in here every night starting today. It's homework, something I want you to do. Maybe something you wouldn't regularly do, or maybe something you do all the time. The only thing different about this homework is, you can't fail it and you aren't being graded on it.
Homework assignment #1:
I want you to stop everything you're doing and find that one song, you know it. That one song and just listen to it, stop whatever you're doing and listen to it. Then post it and tell us what you thought about it and how it made you feel.
Participants: Hewitt, Jutsu, Index, Mercury, Exilement, AutisticBiscuit.
Homework assignment #2:
Whose homework thread is it anyways: Scenes from a hat.
Participants: Mercury, Jutsu, Zed, P)Ox4, Hewitt, NT.
Homework assignment #3:
Draw a picture in whatever art program you have, expressing how you feel about your family.
It was this song for some reason.
My initial thoughts are that Freddie Mercury had realized he had aids at the time and had already been coming to grips with the reality of it. Of course listening to the lyrics you will instantly realize that the lyrics are much deeper and much more emotional than you would initially believe. I think it's a fantastic song, I would personally score it a ten out of ten no doubt. I think it's one of the best musical pieces in recent history and that I will be listening to it for many years to come, because it's such a beautiful track.
I believe the lyrics cover a topic all mortal men struggle with. We don't want to die, but we will and most of us want to love and be loved. The lyrics in this song really connect to me on a pretty big level. Because to some extent we all have a death sentence on us, because inevitably we will all die.
"Who wants to live forever, when love must die?"
I will vouch for this song any day of the week.
So I recently discovered "Fushitsusha" and their discography is really god damn confusing because their acclaimed work is live, no songs on "Live I" have official names, and not every site even calls it "Live I". I downloaded a version called "Double Live" and thought it was the wrong thing, so I went to what.cd and downloaded Live. It turned out to be the same fucking album. I wasted a freeleech token, my precious token, for nothing.
But I don't care now because it turned out to be great.
At first I wasn't feeling it, but as I just slowly progressed through the whole thing— man, it's an experience. The individual songs don't matter, which is why they don't need names. The fact that it's live makes me feel the beauty of that moment in time when it was performed. It also makes it really spacy and more psychedelic. I wouldn't show anyone a single song because you don't really get the feeling if you just jump right in. This is what I would listen to on shrooms. I'm gonna link to a track anyway.
there's a lot of variety on the album too, liek the first track is bluesy af. also I speak Japanese and the lyrics are top tier
Call it whatever, I love this song. It's relaxing, it makes you seem like you're in Fiji or some sunset beach in Hawaii. And the only reason I say that is because it was in a travel ad a while back here in NZ. It's awesome.
Nice song mercury, seriously it's too nice, for me at least.
Well since y'all are the only participants. How about some extra credit?
Ho man, I swear I relate to this song in a lot of ways.
It's good shit, a little bit on the somber side, obviously.
Right off the bat I felt like this was going to be one of those gushy depressed songs but then BAM out of nowhere he starts confessing insecurities. Expressing frustration with what he wants and what really happens, demonstrating his unrealistic expectations for himself that he likely won't actually reach. And man, when he talks about not belonging, I know that feel so hard it hurts.
Naturally it doesn't make you feel all warm and fuzzy, it is a pretty sad song. But some times you just gotta say fuck it.
Good idea, Jutsu. It really needs more participants.
I'm a fan of music like this since the age of 9, when I first started to check-out movie trailers. This song and it's author - Zack Hemsey - are relatively newly discovered for me. The song is my absolute favorite from Hemsey's album "The Way" and is quickly getting up to my Top 100 list of all-time favorites.
The feeling is hard to describe. It's something like peace - catastrophe - peace. I like to imagine a "movie" while I'm listening to a song like this one.
"a trip." (Click to Show)
F.e from the beginning to @2:39 I see how a camera move through oceans, seas, beaches, forests, mountains. Starting from @2:41 I try to in-vision a post-industrial city like Hong Kong or NYC. All the building made of glass, lights, many vehicles, a lot of people going nowhere. @3:29 it's nighttime, still a lot of lights, a lot of people here and there, but a menace is getting closer... fade-out @3:53, all lights off. @4:01 next day comes, the sun lights walls of the dead city. All buildings are the same, the vehicles are parked on the streets, but there's no people outside. Are they at their homes? No. I see a handful of ashes laying on a carpet. @5:03 - the empty city. A tall building falls down. A couple of day/night and winter/summer changes, fade-out. Eons later I see another big green forests with hills, etc. Some very big tree leaned against a glassy building. @5:53 - I'm back to a beach, looking at the ocean. There's completely no dirt. Birds are flying to the sunrise. @6:36 - Fade out, and I'm returning to my seat in front of my laptop. Just one of imaginary trips I like to relate this song to.
Sometimes I find it quite amusing, how sometimes "real" such trips feel. I'm getting way too old for daydreaming, but I can't help it.

edit: i had no idea what this thread was about, i thought it was about literal homework, confused as to why everyone was posting music lol.
i'd post, though i guess i don't know what 'that one song' is
Understanding music theory makes this song 10x better than it already is.
0:00-1:31: This entire section's chord progression is played by a synth arpeggio, repeating the same up-and-down pattern. The progression is 8 bars and starts on D:
Dmaj | D+ | Dmaj | D+ | Dmaj | Gmin | Dmaj | Gmin
If you don't know theory, here are the notes for each of these chords:
Dmaj: D - F# - A
D+: D - F# - A#
Gmin: D - G - Bb
Every time a chord changes, it only moves one or two notes upward by a half step, making the song sound like a slow, gradual rise. Moving from Dmaj to D+ only raises A up a half step to A#. The other two notes stay the same.
Moving from Dmaj to Gmin has the same movement: A moves up a half step to Bb (same note as A#), and the F# also moves up a half step to G, making the chord change a little more noticeable.
At the end of the 8 bars, the song's key moves up a fourth. The entire progression repeats itself in the new key:
Gmaj | G+ | Gmaj | G+ | Gmaj | Cmin | Gmaj | Cmin
The first progression ended on Gmin, and this one starts on Gmaj. Again, the only difference between these two chords is the Bb moving up to B in Gmaj.
If you want a visual, the song moves through the Circle of Fifths starting on the D in the upper-right, moving clockwise to Eb. Once it gets to 1:36 the song's structure changes and the chords start moving backward to F, which is the chord that builds after the "Take a bow" lyric.
Once the guitar comes in the sequence in the beginning starts to repeat again, starting on F, changing 6 more times before ending on B. The song is only about 4 minutes long and it changes keys a total of 15 times.
There's no verses or chorus in the entire song, it's written mathematically as a constant, gradual build-up to that final, massive chord at 4:02, at which point the effect should make it feel like someone is tickling your penis with a feather. Muse is such a fucking awesome band.
(walltext that i agree with completely agree with)
I love that song, gives me shivers everytime I listen to it. I hate music hipsters that think muse are shit just because they're popular, that really gets on my nerves. I saw them do it live on the resistance tour at wembley stadium too, that was so awesome, one of the last songs as well.
My most recent one is probably this, pretty much all because of Breaking Bad. Just the climax of four series with that last masterful shot of the (spoiler) right at the end, it's one of my favourite scenes in anything ever. Everytime I hear it I just stop and remember how tense that series was. I'm sure I have more songs that are probably better than this, but this is the only thing that comes to midn at the moment.

Pretty excellent song. Though I don't think I will every fully understand music theory, because I enjoy the mystery of music. I've found that most people who study musical theory believe that digital music is now the only way to go. While I believe that sitting and watching someone solo an acoustic guitar on the side of the road is much more appealing. Regardless I enjoyed the song quite a bit and the contribution too.
Extra cookie for you.

I do like this song, I just haven't finished the series yet, so don't spoil it.
I get that feeling you depict every time I listen to the cowboy bebop ost, or watch the last episode of that show. Mmmm, indescribably, just pulse pounding.

I'm not sure what to say, entry level songs are allowed here, any level songs are allowed here.
I don't fully understand if it's an insult or what.
And yeah, haha, that was the point of me naming the thread that. People would be thinking that this was going to be about boring ass fucking homework and the monotonous grind of their lives, then BAM! We're doing something different.
Good job everyone, I'll be sure to come up with something good for tonight.
Maybe a really vague question that can't be answered wrong, or a way to express yourselves, like finger painting penises or something. What do you guys think?

How about give yourself five minutes in paint and try to draw your personality as best as you can?

I actually had to upload this song myself a while ago to share it on stickpage, and the album is probably the most beautiful and perfect thing I've ever heard. It makes me visualize Can playing outside somewhere tropical where it's raining heavily, but it's still sunny. They're using sort of tribal instruments, especially the drums. The drummer, Jaki Liebezeit, is the best drummer I've ever heard. Every component of the song is synchronized so perfectly that it amazes me, especially since Future Days was recorded almost 40 years ago. You can hear its influence on world music and new wave music and it makes me want to dance around like a retard. When Damo's singing kicks in, I almost orgasmed the first time I heard it. This isn't even the best song on the album. Bel-air, by far, is the best. It's a clear masterpiece, and it's like 20 minutes long, taking up all of side B. At one part, it's like the clouds part and the rain clears up, and then birds come out and start chirping and shit and it's spring and it's just so god damn amazing. I didn't upload that one, though. Fuck I love Can.
btw volume needs to be on MAX for this song. it's pretty quiet.
Welcome back to whose homework thread is it anyways?
The thread where everything's made up and the points don't matter.
We'll be playing a game today called scenes from a hat. I draw papers out of this hat and you act out the scenes.
The first one is. ..
Explaining to someone you stole from them in haiku.
I like showing wonderful animations
I like your wonderful animations
I claimed your animations as my own and now you may dwell within the depths degradation.
I don't even know if that remotely makes sense, in any way. But hey, it's my first time writing a Haiku.
