Has anybody here on stickpage used any version of anime studio pro? if so how is it in teams of animation when compared to flash? i checked YouTube to see if I could find a good animation animated by anime studio pro software, but to my astonishment i couldn't find any decent animation. If anybody has links showcasing a decent length animation by anime studio please post it here, that will be appreciated.

Mehhh, I have it, but I use Flash more often. It's more of a thing for fullbody, I liked to yell my rants into a microphone and make a guy I drew say it. Overall, Flash is better though. Maybe you could find something on their forum? http://www.lostmarble.com/forum/

I tried it and I didn't like it. I can't remember but I think it's based on bone structures, so you have set set up dolls before animating. Quite the opposite of how most anime is animated. If you want a good animating program try Toon Boom. Flash is essentially a baby's toy compared to Toon Boom. It's Adam Phillips' animation program of choice.

thank you. you said flash is a baby's toy when compared with Toon Boom, does this mean that flash is much easier to use or Toon Boom has more animating options/features?

Both. I tired Toon Boom for a while and it took me a bit to understand what was going on. You'll get used to it eventually though.

However, I'm not exactly sure what type of animation you do, but chances are Flash will be sufficient enough for you. If you already have Flash then keep using it.

full body animation; I'm guessing Toon Boom is better for full body, while flash is best for stick right?

No, if you go to Newgrounds you can see that Flash is clearly suited for a wide range of full body animations, and even has a built in script that allows for interactivity in movies and game creation. Flash works well for mainly web animation and games, although some television shows are animated with Flash (Happy Tree Friends, Foster's Home, Ugly Americans, to name a few), and Toon Boom is limited to only movies, but is very powerful at it (Family Guy, The Simpsons, King of the Hill, and a bunch of Disney movies have all used Toon Boom).

So, like I said, if you already have Flash, use it. You don't need to go looking for the best program if you'll probably only use 10% of it's features.

your insights have enlightened me quite much, thanks. i didn't know Toon Boom was/is used for the creation of the cartoons you mentioned above. i always thought they used some really expensive advanced programs.

toon boom harmony, is expensive. The best toon boom to get is animate pro. People always say stick with flash. But as someone who has used flash for 11 years, and toon boom for about 8, toon boom is superior in every way when it comes to animating. All this vcam nonsense and symbols become redundant as its all built into the workflow. People say its only good for full body, but it does stick animation easier than Flash does.

I've always wanted to do a comparison video to prove it, but just haven't had the time. If ur looking for something better and still want swf exporting then look into toon boom. You can still import your swf into flash if U want to create code for it.

Thank you Peter. is it possible to post some of your Toon Boom animations here, so i can see em'. I can't afford animate pro right now, but i can get studio, is there a lot of difference between the two? will you recommend getting studio now or getting animate pro when i can afford it?

Well for reasons said on facebook cant show my stuff. However i suggest you get an "extended evaluation of animate pro" while you save up for it. Toonboom studio is really good except for one thing, the onion skinning has a max of 3 drawings. But it's still very good, and simple to use. :) I used to teach students how to use it in University, and they preferred it to flash because it's more artistic.
