I am currently gauging interest for a potential pseudo-RP board game I plan to run next year. Being an Arkham Horror/Lovecraft fan, I was thinking of translating it to a forum game with myself as the GM and the board itself. I don't know if I'll be posting it here or General Section yet, but it'll be a Free Roam CYOA where each player has stats, inventory, and a set amount of choices per turn. It'll be a cooperative game, with an estimate of 4-8 players and a high turnover rate. What I mean by the latter is, that the game itself will be two things:

1) Streamlined - Game events, battles, enemy movements, and situational miscellanea are all automatic and will be handled by me in about 1-2 posts per turn. I will serve as the die roller or the Random Number God so to speak.

2) Extremely Difficult - to the point that the 4-8 of you will need to work together if you want to win. I will merely be providing you with the tools to win, but ultimately, the game itself is hard by default. Game Overs can come real quick if you aren't prepared.

I'll gladly explain the premise a bit more but basically you're all investigators of the Mythos and you must save the town from an Eldritch Abomination from devouring everything.

Thoughts?

I've played Arkham Horror. Its a nice game to play with lots of friends indeed. I'm interested in joining the paranormal Lovecraftian universe. So will it be the same rules as Arkham Horror?

At this point I'm assuming yes, but as the date comes closer I might make tweaks. I'm also thinking of reskinning the thing to fit a theme (like Silent Hill or RE or even just Stickpage) in order to attract non-AH audiences.

I'll be using VASSAL to keep track of the board activities if almost nothing changes. Once again, I'm not sure if I wanna run this thing in its compelete entirety. Also, forgive me if I skimp on some rulings. I haven't played that thing in years and I know AH has a shit ton of rules. But I've had my fair share of custom scenarios and campaigns too, as well as owning all expansions except the Miskatonic one.

Wow. The only expansion I've played was the one with multiple eyes. Its stare could drive you insane. I'm ready to help, Hewitt.

Multiple eyes? Would that be the purple potato Eihort from the kingsport expansion?

Hey guys I've noticed that there are a lack of battles in comparison to the amount of gladiators. Mainly because others aren't challenging each other. I say we create a thread where people can say whether or not they're open for battle. Anyone else agree?

I think that was the one Hewitt but I'm not entirely sure...

Personally I think we just need to put "Availability" in the Hall of Warriors, with the default being "No" for those who are inactive. An entire thread just to check each other up seems redundant, doesn't it? I mean for one, why not just do it here? Just saying.

Oh Error, the stories I've had. Like a friend of ours who cockily rolled 15 dice (he was Blessed AND he had a shotgun with maximum Fight) and failed to hit a Cultist. So the Cultist slapped his face for 1 damage XD

Or the time we were cornered by monsters so one of us used the Milk of Shub-Niggurath so attrach every monster to his space. And he beat the shit out of them all with nothing but a magic sword and a spell. In one epic moment, he killed a Mi-Go, and acquired an item from his dead carcass to beat the Shoggoth with it.

Haha. I've never really had that much stories to tell when it came to AH. Just a couple of games around the table of friends every now and then. We were more on DnD but we we did AH when we got bored.

I found out what game we played. It was Call of Cthulhu. How the heck did I forget fighting Cthulhu? O_O I keep remembering losing so much sanity...Haha. I was the insane one in the group.

Man, my guy's an animal-minded clusterfuck of hands and creepy. I don't think I'd be able to take part even though it sounds awesome. Unless there's an other side for characters that serve the monster, if there is then Handyman'd be all up in there.

It does not need to be Handyman, WafflesMgee. It could be another OC of yours. :)

Most of the time RP games don't include your wRHG and require you make an OC that matches the theme of the RP.

You could play it when Hewitt decides to play it out. Discover new things, iarentevil. :D

Like most of the time I use my wRHG Stefan. You can use any OC really.

For awhile my RHG was different then my RHG. All a matter of preference. Sometimes you can't properly explain in writing what you can in animation.

Well the issue with the Hall of Warriors is that it might be redundant for acute to update it for every availability or when someone is unavailable (especially since he updates it for only "major" updates). As for here, I understand it's wRHG discussion but I take that in the meaning of concerns or ideas or questions rather than talk about what you're doing with your character.
