I haven't lost yet, but it's bound to happen eventually. Learning curve etc. Speaking of which, now that the Battle Royal is over. Any challengers?

I just lost my last one, now I'm looking for a way to spice it up a bit. I was thinking of replacing Levi with Riley Sanders. The CIA metahuman who Levi converses to every now and then and treats as a friend. But I don't know how to smoothly transition between characters. Any ideas guys?

You could have Levi sustain heavy injuries of some sort, forcing him to make the choice of retiring from his current career. In the process, he could maybe hand his job to Riley as a favor. Not sure what you have on Riley's abilities, but you could throw in a few themes related to some of Levi's old abilities into Riley's skill set to make it feel more like a successor instead of a replacement.

Know that how you transition could change the clan as well.
Maybe you can do something with the event going on right now?

Ignus, I changed from Altaer to David and then finally to them as a Duo.

What I did was make them tied together, revolving around a background theme (in my case the organization Nehushtan). As long as you can bring up a great theme to tie them together (which it sounds like you already have) there is no problem.

Also, like when I switched from Altaer to David, I kept Altaer active as a storyline character. That way even though David was my wRHG and Altaer wasn't, old Al was still kept "alive" in my writing. That made it seem less like an abandonment and more like a shift of focus from one person to another.

Now, feel free to shoot this down, but what's the general feel for a side character thread? Not willy nilly maybe characters, but reoccurring ones that get used. Doesn't even have to be stickied, if we link it in the Hall of Warriors, I make like, 8 posts to hold space, and no one else posts there, I could just edit it and we could let it sink

I'd say no. If there are side characters have them pinned up in the gladiator thread they are related to.

That is usually how it's done to begin with anyways, so I see no reason to create a new medium. Just add a spoiler onto your gladiator with the title of side characters or such and such.

I am actually in favor of this. It would be similar to what we've already done with the organizations thread, in that with everyone putting their characters all in one place, you can start thinking about how each of them might know/interact with one another in-universe and build stories out of that. Say if two people have side characters that are reporters, maybe they've tracked down some of the same leads? It opens up the door to collaboration by ensuring nobody steps on each other's toes. I myself wouldn't have too many (surviving) non-wRHG characters to contribute, but the idea of character lists in general to me sounds like a pretty solid way to go. Opens up the possibility of taking a break from wRHG to write fun collabs with Dan and others in which associated side characters meet and interact with my now-existing side character Bobbert the Zookeeper. All canon.

Being, I think, intermediate in the lounge, my opinion is positive. Seems good. Means I can res Catherine Caine and Frederik Matthewn (characters I thought would be cool, but then scrapped) in position in IC, but also registered on this theoretical register so I could have them interact in a non-combat oriented environment (although my characters all want to interact in a way that doesn't involve violence as well as being a combatant, so they can talk and fight).

I would be in favor of a side character thread in and of itself, again set up the same way as the Organizations thread.

Currently I keep all of my major side characters in my gladiator thread, and probably still would, but having a place to reference the chars of other people would be nice.
