The Army With Giants
This is a guide for how to properly utilize Giants. Using 4-5 Giants in a game going on the offensive can help you win the game. I will start from the point where you have successfully captured the middle and continuously pressure your opponent's economy, as you will need to figure out what to do in the beginning.
In the middle, or close to your opponent's base even, you should have...
3-5 Tanking Units, to absorb your opponent's range attacks for a short period of time
4-6 Allbowtross
4-5 Giants fully upgraded
1 Meric and Magikill
After capturing the middle you should have probably 2 Allbowtross and a few Spearton. Start buying more Allbowtross slowly along with Giants. If your opponent attacks, make your Allbowtross stay behind Giants and tanking units to deal damage, but at the same time not get hit. Buy Tower Spawn, attack with your Ghost and retreat back to the middle when it dies. If your opponent attacks, kite as much as you can, then turn back to kill them.
The Giants will successfully stun the enemy and Spearton will absorb the attacks for the most part. Keep buying Giants along the way, along with Allbowtross.
Remember, massing Giants on defense is useless and hopeless. Your opponent will crush you. But if you successfully capture the middle, you will have a win. Will this win 100% of the time? No. But will it get you more wins than losses? Yes. And that will certainly boost your rating.
Please post constructive criticism, not posts about how stupid I am to start provoking the dreaded Giant spam again. Please, don't blindly attack the post.
This is me on my IcyFear account. It works probably somewhat close to this guideline

Why not archidons instead of albows? You can get twice as many archidons as you can albows, so twice as many arrows. Archidons also have more range and are faster and cheaper. Archdidons would make this better.

Hm, the strategy is pretty solid but that's actually the easy part of the game, because it assumes that you've won the battle for tower.

The battle of the tower varies for each map. I would have to get very specific, and really, there are too many possibilities.
As for Archidon, you can use that in the beginning, but for the later game the Allbowtrosses have much more damage. Plus ground units can't rush out and kill them. Kiting is a major part of this.

This one also works very well with the game, against some strategies that were new to me. Came as a bit of a surprise, and I thought I was going to lose.

I will describe this battle as giant masser v.s. albowtross masser lol
Comment:
Both sides have a horrible starting
the giant masser: spearton start, skipped the middle and digging the wall
the albow masser, 3 miners starting, walls, archer, turtle...
Both players have bad micro
the giant masser, didn't hold their speartons/medics, they rushed out and died
the first archer got stupidly hurt by the castle archer, he shouldn't be the one to enter the castle archer's range
the albowtross masser: if he could call his abowtross to support the swordwrath in the 1st large scale counter attack, he won the game
when the first ghost died, he didn't retreat but keep attacking, so the 2nd giant killed them all, if he waited for anther ghost, he won
My feeling: I hate giant/albow massing.... they are sucked =.=
Hope this comment can help you better... no offensive, you are in top 100 but you don't have the skills that top 100 players should have :/
I know you will get better :) keep learning

Umm... so basically you're telling me that
A. I should not use ghost???
B. I should run away from SwordWrath???
C. I should not attack their walls???

A. You are right on using ghost
I am talking about the albowtross masser's one...
look carefully at the replay, he sucked at using his ghost XD
B. No, you shouldn't run
Again, it was his fault, not calling the albowtross for support
C. Grrr.... it is better to take the middle first before you go to the enemy's base, you will be much richer
And please no giant massing :< it will seriously weaken your attack power, there were many chances for the albowtross masser to beat you, he just missed the chances one by one, I was shocked XD

That's for my other start. For Spearton, I need to make up for my economy, because 20 gold funding isn't really that much.

20 gold funding isn't really that much :P ?
It is a BIG advantage for early game

Well, if my opponent had spent all his gold on miners and I didn't go to check, then... well you get the idea.
Feb 2, 2013 2:54 PM #870285
Hah, still no
Feb 2, 2013 4:41 PM #870431
5 Miners against a Spearton is bit... hard to defeat.
Feb 2, 2013 4:42 PM #870433
But I always charge the enemy base, only if I'm pushed back do I then take tower. I mean, if I can win it early, why not?

Exactly my point.
